Priya Malik(I)

Priya Malik is an Indian actress, poet and story teller. She was born in Dehradun and did her schooling from Carman School Dehradun before joining Convent of Jesus and Mary High School. Priya went to Shri Venkateshwara College to completed graduation in English Hons. For higher studies, she joined University of South Australia to earn a master's degree in Teaching and Applied Linguistics.
She started her career as a quality analyst, tutor and trainer in India. After shifting to Australia, she became a high school teacher in Adelaide, Australia. She was the finalist from South Australia for the Australian Poetry Slam in 2013.
Priya earned accoladed for her stand-up comedy after performing with Comedy Clubs like Cranker Comedy, SA Comedy, A Mic in Hand Comedy, among others. In 2014, she participated in the 11th season of the reality show Big Brother Australia. After shifting back to her home town India, she participated in Big Boss season 9 on Colors TV.
As a social activist, she has participated in various initiatives, such as Free the Nipple and removal of tax on sanitary napkins. In 2017, she acted in a women-centric theatre play 'Selfie' directed by Tannaz Irani. In 2018, Priya appeared at a TEDx event at Symbiosis International University, Pune.
Besides this, she has featured on various spoken word poetry platforms on youtube which include UnErase Poetry, Spill Poetry, Tape A Tale to name a few. Some of her popular poetic works include Mujhe Pyar Nahi Ishq Chahiye, Broken But Beautiful, 2019 mai 1999, etc.
In 2019, she featured in Star Plus show Nazar, playing the role of Dukaayan. She also hosted Uncensored News TV9 Bharatvarsh. In the following year, she launched Priya kisi Pathshaala, an online workshop on poetry. In 2022, she acted in the short film Jeena Abhi Baaki Hai.
She has also appeared on the cover of Cosmopolitan Magazine. She received appreciation for her poetic work after being featured in World Business Review Corporation Uk Ltd's 45 under 45 India list.
