Krzysztof Uminski was born on April 22, 1984 in Warsaw, Poland. He received his MA in Cultural Studies from the University of Warsaw. Before starting out in the cinema industry, he worked for several years as a literary translator. In 2014 he wrote (with director Lukasz Grzegorzek) his first feature film Kamper, which premiered at Karlove Vary International Film Festival and received the Discovery Award for Best Debut Feature at Raindance Film Festival (2016). In 2017 the duo went on to write A Coach's Daughter, a road movie set in the world of young tennis players.
