- Randy rigorously studied Robert Duvall's character in The Apostle (1997) for inspiration & technique by recommendation from a fellow actor & friend Caleb Lane for his role in 'Fry St' as a street preacher.
- Randy was originally cast as an FBI Agent in the feature film Wunderkinder. He was later called back and offered the role of "Jack Ayers" where he worked closely with director Krisjiannis Vittato with scenes alongside actors Robert Michael Szot and Nicholis Spring. Randy's character "Jack Ayers" is the last face you see in the film.
- After reading the script for "53rd & 3rd" for the character "Patron", Randy originally turned down the role due to the character's nature. However, after eventually agreeing to a Skype audition, exchanging ideas, and building the character closely with director Tyler Orr, Randy accepted the role that ended up being one of the most diverse, challenging, and rewarding character portrayals to date.
- In the World War II series The Front (2018), Randy was featured in three episodes and took on the challenge of portraying four separate characters. This was achieved by drastically altering his appearance while maintaining continuity in the production and simultaneously taking on the roles of a 101st Airborne Division G.I., a German Obergefreiter, an American M1 Soldier, and a German Feldwebel.
- Although uncredited, on Randy's first day on set in the J.J. Abrams Bad Robot/Warner original Hulu Series 11.22.63 (2016) based on the novel by Stephen King, He was selected out of a crowd of extras to be featured in a scene along side 'James Franco' while filming at the Dallas Memorial Auditorium. After a quick wardrobe change and a check-in in with the hair and makeup departments to alter his appearance, Randy quickly transitioned from a 1960's Houston & Elm pedestrian to an Usher, based on historical photo's provided by the studio.
- Actors Randy Shoemake and Peter J. Calvin have been cast together in over 10 productions throughout the year of 2015.
- Randy received a nomination category "Best Actor In a Leading Role" for his performance as "Corporal Donny Hawk" in Live to Fight Another Day (2017) at the Rack Focus Dallas Film Competition Round III Red Carpet Premier in May of 2016.
- Randy placed as a finalist for his performance as "Kyle" for the category of "Best Acting" in Red (2017) in which the production was also received as a finalist for "Best Drama" in the My RØDE Reel Short Film Competition 2016.
- Randy received one nomination and won the award for the category "Best Actor in a Supporting Role" for his performance as "Subject #11" in V.I. (2016) at the Rack Focus Dallas Film Competition Round IV in November of 2016.
