House of the Dragon Season 2 opened with Jacaerys Velaryon seeking support from major houses in Westeros, particularly House Stark. While speaking with Lord Cregan Stark, he learned more about the long history of the bond between their ancestors.

In times when peace and unity are threatened, a strong support system goes a long way, and it’s good to know that the Starks have never forgotten their oath—the pledge made by Lord Rickon Stark to King Viserys I when the latter named Rhaenyra as his heir in the first season. However, this allegiance holds a more sacred reason that goes beyond the politics of Westeros.

DC Comics has announced a new ongoing Batman series, and the creative team is sure to generate a lot of excitement.
Starting this September, Matt Fraction will be taking over writing duties for Batman #1, with Jorge Jiménez on art. This will mark only the fourth renumbering for DC’s Batman comic book series in the 85-year history of the title, and will introduce a new blue and gray costume, a redesigned Batmobile, and a new aesthetic for Gotham City.
“I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Batman. It was the first comic I ever read,” said Fraction. “Jorge and I have a very superhero-forward kind of take on Batman. We’ve got a new Batmobile, we’ve got a new costume, we’ve got new characters, and we’ve got a lot of old ones too—good and bad; all the stuff that makes Batman the coolest character in comics.

James Norton has been tapped to portray Ormund Hightower in Season 3 of HBO’s House of the Dragon, Deadline has learned.
Ormund, who was referenced in Season 2 but never appeared on onscreen, is then nephew of Otto (Rhys Ifans), cousin to Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and Gwayne (Freddie Fox) and the Lord of Oldtown. He is presently leading the Hightower forces in a march on King’s Landing to support his house against Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy).
Variety was first to report Norton’s casting.
Based on Martin’s Fire & Blood and set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon tells the story of House Targaryen.
In addition to Ifans, Cooke, Fox and D’Arcy, the cast also includes Matt Smith, Emma, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Matthew Needham, Sonoya Mizuno, Tom Glynn-Carney, Ewan Mitchell, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban and Jefferson Hall. Ever since the enormous success of Game of Thrones, studios and streamers have tried to create their own epic fantasy hits, from The Wheel of Time to The Witcher to The Rings of Power to House of the Dragon, itself a Game of Thrones prequel. But one thing that's consistently annoyed fans is that while each new season of Game of Thrones had 10 episodes and came out once per year (at least until the last couple of seasons), all of the other shows I mentioned generally have around eight episodes per season, with those seasons coming out multiple years apart. It feels like we're waiting longer for less.
House of the Dragon is one of the better post-GoT fantasy series, but it's also fallen prey to this issue. The first season, which aired in 2022, ran a full 10 episodes and generally was received very well. The second season came out in 2024, only had eight episodes,...

Throughout their decades of continuity, Marvel Comics has featured countless crossovers and globe-shattering events featuring thousands of characters from across their publishing line. Oftentimes, many these events are held in high regard, while every now and then, a handful of other crossovers just don’t land the way that creators – or fans – may have wanted.
So for every must-read Marvel Comics crossover, there are just as many stories that fans would be better off avoiding entirely. And readers will want as mnuch guidance as possible when it comes to finding the best and worst Marvel Comics crossover events.

Warning: Contains Potential Spoilers for Titans #19!The latest issue of Titans delivered an epic scene that firmly establishes Raven and Starfire as the ultimate BFFs of the DC Universe. What starts as a heartfelt moment between the two quickly evolves into a jaw-dropping display of dual badassery, perfectly showcasing their bond and synergy. After witnessing this incredible dynamic, I'm more excited than ever to see what DC has planned for this duo moving forward
While Raven may officially be the empath of the Titans, Starfire comes close to rivaling her in empathy.
John Layman and Serg Acuña's Titans #19 continues this action-packed run where the team barely has a moment to catch their breath between epic battles. In this issue, a major twist unfolds as Killer Frost, recently inducted into the Justice League, reverts to her villainous roots.

Starfire is one of DC’s most iconic and beloved heroines, but beyond her role as a powerhouse member of the Teen Titans, she’s often relegated to being just a love interest. While I’m not entirely opposed to a well-done romance arc for the Tamaranean Princess, I’d much rather see her star in an A-tier solo series that explores themes beyond love first.
While this may be a divisive opinion, I believe Tom Taylor would be a fantastic choice to helm a Starfire solo series.
There’s no denying that Starfire is one of DC’s most badass female characters and a favorite among fans. Yet, it’s surprising that the comic publisher hasn’t put more effort into developing her character beyond being a member of the Titans or a love interest for characters like Nightwing and Arsenal.

Tony Stark's Iron Man is known for his incredibly advanced armor, while the unkillable Wolverine is famous for his adamantium-coated claws. But when the two are pitted against each other in Marvel lore, whose metal wins out? Can Wolverine slice and dice Tony's armor, or has the 'ultimate futurist' developed a suit that even adamantium can't cut?
The answer is less obvious than it seems, especially given the surprising rarity with which Tony and Logan have found themselves physically at odds. The two don't fight often, but when they do, they don't hold back.
The short answer is that Wolverine is certainly capable of cutting Iron Man's regular armor, but Tony Stark has created at least two suits that Logan wouldn't be able to damage, each for a surprisingly different reason.
Iron Man's anti-adamantium Argonaut armor would melt Wolverine's metal on contact.

Dragons and royal drama? Cool. But even House of the Dragon’s wildest moment couldn’t top Outlander’s most legendary episode. This one hit like an emotional freight train — fans were ugly crying, yelling at their TVs, and questioning their life choices all at once.

Sure, House of the Dragon brought fire and chaos, but Outlander brought pure, unfiltered feels. Sometimes, all it takes is time travel, heartbreak, and a killer storyline to absolutely destroy the competition. Mic drop.

The Season 2 finale, Dragonfly in Amber, rocks a killer 9.5 IMDb rating, beating House of the Dragon’s fiery crowd-pleaser The Red Dragon and the Gold (9.4). Yep, Jamie and Claire’s heartbreak-packed journey took down Westeros’ biggest dragon flex.

Warning: Contains Potential Spoilers for Nightwing #121!
Nightwing is proving once and for all that he is his own hero, redefining his crime-fighting tactics and moving further away from the lessons—and perhaps even the morals—instilled in him by Batman. However, the question remains: will Dick Grayson’s new approach to heroism see him surpass the Dark Knight, or will it result in a fall from grace?
Dan Watters and Dexter Soy’s takeover of the Nightwing run from Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo has ushered in a new era for the Original Boy Wonder, introducing not only fresh villains and challenges but also significant changes to Dick’s crime-fighting tactics—changes both he and Batgirl admit Batman would disapprove of.
These shifts first became apparent in issue #119, the debut of Watters and Soy’s run, and their latest release, issue #121, further cements that Dick has little regard left for Bruce’s methodology and code.

Superman has a reputation for being unbelievably nice and understanding, but he sometimes has to flex his muscles, proving that he's far more badass than anyone gives him credit for. With his incredible powers, Superman often goes out of his way to present himself as a lot meeker than he really is. These moments demonstrate that while Superman doesn't want to flaunt how powerful he is when he lets loose, there's simply no one cooler than him.
When it comes to superheroes who are undeniably cool, most fans tend to point towards Batman. After all, he's cloaked in all black, appears from the shadows, and brutally takes down criminals. Even when Batman and Superman team up, most still seem to think that Batman is the cooler of the two - usually because Superman holds back his true power. No villain has been more persistent in his attacks on Batman than the Joker. Every other villain will either retire or give up on their goals. But the Joker has been shown to constantly evolve with Batman; no matter what Batman does, the Joker is still there, matching him every step of the way. I truly think that this means, eventually, that the Joker will end up defeating Batman, and there are tons of stories in the DC Universe that support this theory.
It's no secret that Batman is getting older. Batman has been fighting crime in Gotham for decades at this point. It's only natural that he'd get older and that he'd start to slow down. The second season of HBO's Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon began with a visit to the North, where Rhaenyra Targaryen's son Jacaerys Velaryon (Harry Collett) brokered an alliance with young Cregan Stark (Tom Taylor), the head of House Stark in these days. They didn't have much time together, but it was neat to visit the Wall again, and to see some of the Stark iconography.
For instance, Cregan Stark bore the Valyrian steel blade Ice, the same one that Ned Stark would wield over 100 years later on Game of Thrones...before it's used to behead him at the first season. The official Game of Thrones YouTube channel recently dropped a little behind-the-scenes video about how they recreated this iconic sword for the prequel show. Watch it above!

Warning! This post contains Spoilers for Nightwing #120As much as I loved Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo's run on DC's Nightwing, I'm definitely sold on the new era that's come for Dick Grayson and his city. In the aftermath of Heartless' attack on Nightwing and those he protects, Dick Grayson received a triumphant conclusion for everything he'd been working and fighting for, both with and without his mask. However, Nightwing is now facing a brutal war that's coming from Blüdhaven (and I'm very excited about what's to come).
Coming from Dan Watters and Dexter Soy, the new era of Nightwing is here with only two issues having been published thus far (Nightwing #119 and #120). To that end, both issues have successfully kicked off a dynamic new arc for Dick Grayson who's now found himself caught in a battle that threatens the entire city. Likewise, it certainly looks like this new era...

Warning: Contains Potential Spoilers for Detective Comics #1091!
There’s no denying that Batman is the DC Universe’s resident masochist. From his relentless journey to becoming the Dark Knight to his compulsive self-sacrifice and guilt-ridden nature, Bruce Wayne has perfected the art of self-inflicted torment. But now, with a new biologically altering power, Batman’s legendary masochism has reached a whole new peak.
Tom Taylor, Mikel Janín, and Wes Abbott’s Detective Comics #1091 delves deeper into the Dark Knight’s latest struggle—his aging body. Years of relentless heroics have taken their toll, making the role of Batman increasingly difficult for Bruce to sustain.
However, in the previous issue, Detective Comics #1090, a potential solution was presented when Scarlett Martha Scott—Joe Chill’s daughter and a Wayne family friend—offered Bruce a treatment to slow his aging, preserving his youth and extending his lifespan. In Issue #1091, Bruce accepts Scarlett’s offer and undergoes the treatment.

Bruce Wayne is going the extra mile to protect his secret identity as Batman, even in reality. Few heroes keep their secret identity under such a tight lock and key as Batman does. Even some of the superheroes he calls his friends have been known to be oblivious of who lies under the cowl. Sometimes, Bruce goes as far as to have an extra secret identity. That's how protective he is of hiding his identity.
On X, Detective Comics writer Tom Taylor exposes the lengths that Batman is going to protect his secret identity on social media - even in real life. In the post, the writer promotes the release of Detective Comics #1091 by himself and Mikel Janín, who also provides cover art.

Adaptations of Stephen King's works are often hit or miss. While some efforts translate to the big screen rather well with competent screenplays, others fail to grasp the core appeal of the source material. Plus, there are also those that inhabit the grey area of commendable effort and middling execution, with foundational aspects of King's fiction inevitably getting lost in the visual medium. However, even the most under-the-radar King adaptations have had their (rightful) resurgence over the years, such as 1997's "The Night Flier," which tells an unconventionally chilling vampire tale despite its glaring flaws. Moreover, new releases such as Gary Dauberman's "Salem's Lot" have become a streaming hit on Max despite receiving unfavorable reviews for leaving a lot to be desired.
But what about a highly-anticipated, yet ultimately disappointing adaptation that was both a critical and commercial failure? Well, Netflix has accomplished the improbable again. Nikolaj Arcel...

Nikolaj Arcel's 2017 adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower, with its deep lore and mythology, may leave some audiences with questions about the ending. Truth be told, The Dark Tower, which has recently hit Netflix, is only an adaptation of King's books in name only; some of the story beats are the same but happen far earlier than they do in the books, while others are changed entirely from the original story. The gunslinger protagonist, Roland of Gilead (Idris Elba), is also wildly different than in the books, with his core motivation being completely different.
Those who know the backstory of The Dark Tower adaptation won't find this surprising. The production was famously troubled, requiring multiple rewrites, reshoots, and editing compromises that come through in the finished product. The Dark Tower's strong cast, led by Elba and Matthew McConaughey in his first villain role, was a stellar...

Today marks the release of House of the Dragon: Dawn of the Targaryen Civil War, a coffee table book that dives deep on the second season of HBO's Game of Thrones prequel show. Author Gina McIntyre had access to the set and was able to talk to cast and crew members about their experience. The book also includes tons of photographs straight from the set, concept art, pictures of props, and more.
Let's focus on the images for right now, because a lot of them are making their way around the internet, with an X user named @glindacent being extremely thorough. I won't actually embed the photos here for fear of angering the copyright gods, but will link out to tons of stuff, including:

Jake Chambers' (Tom Taylor) "shine" in The Dark Tower is the source of his psychic powers, and it also connects to Danny Torrance's powers in The Shining and Doctor Sleep. Jake's "shine" was a major plot point in the movie adaptation of The Dark Tower. Walter Padick (Matthew McConaughey) believed Jake's shine was so pure that it could single-handedly destroy the Tower that supported the entire universe. It was also what allowed Jake to see Roland Deschain (Idris Elba) in the first place, and what allowed him to speak directly to the gunslinger through telepathy.
What was most confusing about Jake's shine, however, didn't come from The Dark Tower, but another Stephen King movie adaptation, The Shining. In The Shining, Danny Torrance also has psychic abilities called shine, yet he only experiences the horrors of the Overlook Hotel, rather than the visions of Mid-World that Jake saw. The 2017 adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower had a star-studded cast to bring Roland Deschain's quest for the Tower to life. The Dark Tower follows Roland Deschain (Idris Elba) as he takes Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor) on a quest to stop Walter (Matthew McConaughey) from destroying the titular Tower that holds the universe together. Unfortunately, The Dark Tower is one of the few adaptations that Stephen King criticized himself, but it's certainly not because of its cast.
While Mike Flanagan's upcoming The Dark Tower series will redefine the characters King created in live-action, the 2017 movie still had an important role in bringing them to the screen. Even though The Dark Tower is often criticized for being one of the least faithful and worst Stephen King movies, its cast is one of the few things that most fans agree was worthy of praise. Warning: Spoilers for Detective Comics #1091Bruce Wayne has been in the hero business for a long time, and not even Batman can escape the effects of aging on his body - until now. Batman has just taken a risky solution for his advancing age, and taking it has forever altered his biology in a way that might even put him on par with Superman.

Author Stephen King is one of the most recognized and prolific authors of this era. Best known as a horror writer, King began his work as a published author through 1974's Carrie, which earned him massive acclaim. He has since gone on to publish The Shining (1977), Firestarter (1980), Pet Sematary (1983), and countless other legendary works. Throughout his career, he has released dozens of books and hundreds of short stories.
Unsurprisingly, having so much attention on King's works brought Hollywood to his doorstep. The renowned author has seen numerous adaptations. Children of the Corn (1984), Misery (1990), It (2017), and Kubrick's The Shining (1980) were all inspired by his stories. While some of his movies have failed, King's name generally serves as a boon for any project that bears it. There are, however, some works that have not seen success. The Flash is widely regarded as one of the DC Universe's most powerful characters. He is definitively the fastest speedster in DC's continuity, and the countless battles he's fought throughout space and time cement his status among legends like Superman and Wonder Woman. However, most fans only know him for his super-speed, despite his massive range of powers.
The Flash's speed is certainly a valuable skill, and it's his most iconic without question, but it's far from the only remarkable ability at his disposal. From turning invisible to bending the fabric of reality itself, the Flash has proven himself to be a powerhouse of otherworldly proportions who can rival Kryptonians and gods alike. The Dark Tower movie was missing many key characters from the Stephen King novels who need to be in the upcoming series adaptation. Mike Flanagan's Dark Tower show is currently in development and is planned to adapt all the installments in The Dark Tower series. The 2017 movie was not a direct adaptation of the novels, instead acting as a sequel that only loosely adapted some of the characters and events from the source material. This approach was not received well, with the movie holding a 16% critical score and a 44% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Warning: Contains Spoilers for Nightwing #119!
Nightwing is officially adopting a Red Hood-approach to crime-fighting, and its safe to say that Batman wont be a fan of this change given his hard, unmoveable stance on dealing with crime. This radical shift is one of the most thrilling developments in Dick Grayson's character in years and promises to usher in one of Nightwing's most compelling eras in comics.
...Nightwings decision to control crime rather than fight it...
Dan Watters, Dexter Soy, Veronica Gandini, and Wes Abbotts Nightwing run launches with issue #119, heralding one of Dick Graysons most thrilling and transformative chapters yet, as the very foundations of Bludhaven tremble with a significant shift in the power hierarchy.

Warning! Spoilers for From the DC Vault: Death in the Family - Robin Lives! #4!A lot of people in the DC Universe want to kill the Joker, and the person with the biggest reason to do it has always been Red Hood. Unfortunately, due to narrative necessity of the Joker, DC has never allowed him to be killed off, but in this one-off universe, Jason is finally given the revenge that he deserves.
Jason was finally given his satisfying revenge in the pages of From the DC Vault: Death in the Family - Robin Lives! #4 by J.M. DeMatteis, Rick Leonardi, Rico Renzi, and Taylor Esposito. In this story, Jason survives and tries to move on from his attempted murder at the hands of the Joker. But the trauma ends up being too much for Jason to handle, and he eventually goes after the Joker, trying to seek him out on his own.

Warning: Spoilers for Detective Comics #1090Dc has made another change to Batmans origin, and Im worried that it takes too much from a problem which has plagued his many adaptations. A new Detective Comics story adds another element to Batman's classic backstory, as a flashback reveals how Thomas Wayne helps a new mother and her daughter escape their abuser, whom he operated on to save following a car accident. This abuser has a shocking connection to Batman's past, and I'm not sure how to feel about it.
Detective Comics #1090 by Tom Taylor, Mikel Jann, and Wes Abbott focuses on Thomas Wayne as much as it does Bruce, stressing Thomass commitment to saving lives even if theyre evil. The last page of the issue reveals that the abuser of a young mother and her child in Thomas' care was none other than Joe Chill, who goes on to murder Thomas and Martha Wayne in the future,...

Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondos award-winning Nightwing run has officially concluded, bringing an end to an 84-year-long chapter in Dick Graysons story with a devastating death.
