- Frank Callan was born in Philadelphia, PA. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War and was being trained at Fort Knox as an Army Tank Commander when the war ended, so he never had to serve overseas or in battle. While visiting the USO in Louisville, Kentucky, he met Virginia Rae (Anger) Callan.
Frank and Virginia loved ballroom dancing and frequently danced as did others of their generation. Big Band era music has always been their favorite style of music.
From the 1950s until the 1970s, he loved shooting 8 mm family films; then Super 8 films in the 1970s-1980s.
During the 1960s, he attended night school at the University of Louisville and graduated with a BA in Business Administration in 1968.
Frank and Virgina have seven kids, seven grandchildren, and a growing number of great-grandchildren. Their third oldest son, David Callan, has over 40-years of working in TV. David's son, Michael Callan, operates score boards for major TV network games on regional/national TV.
After his Honorable Discharge from the United States Army, he has belonged to the Zachary Taylor Post 180 of the American Legion in Louisville, Kentucky.
During his lifetime of employment, he held a wide variety of employment from insurance, real estate, health industry, management, security, sales, and related areas.
He attends meetings with the Kentuckiana Cinematography Club (KCC) in Louisville, KY, started by his youngest son, Brennan James Callan. In 2012 and 2013, Frank acted in feature films at the age of 78 and 79 years old. During the retirement of Frank and Virginia, Brennan has involved his parents in various film productions of his own as well as other production companies to keep them active.
In 2013, Frank's lower right leg was amputated to save his life. The insurance ran out 100 days later; he returned home.
