Jim Liu (Liu, Jing Yu) is an internationally acclaimed actor and director. Born and raised in Taiwan, Jim's passion for film and television was evident early on. Awarded a prestigious three-year scholarship, he pursued a PhD in Media Studies at the University of Southampton in the U.K. Upon completing his degree, Jim launched his international career in the U.K., where his talents quickly gained recognition.
Jim began his journey in the film and television industry as a film festival coordinator, cinematographer, writer, and lecturer. His diverse skill set laid a strong foundation for his future endeavors. In 2015, Jim decided to fully embrace acting, quickly securing roles in international series such as Strike Back (2015), Harley and the Davidsons (2016), and The Windsors (2017).
In 2018, Jim's growing reputation led to an invitation to teach at the Shanghai Vancouver Film School, where his work and talent were further recognized. It was in China that Jim took on new challenges and expanded his acting career, notably landing the lead role of Zong Ping in the Chinese feature film WuHungYe. This film, which premiered on QIY in 2019, showcased Jim's range and depth as an actor. His subsequent roles further solidified his place in the industry, including his portrayal of Doctor Song in The Farewell (2019), Ming in IP Man 4: The Finale (2019), and his breakthrough role as Jamie in Variant-a China-America co-produced sci-fi action blockbuster set to be released in January 2024.
