Coming from a background in journalism, Lily stands out as one of the few female Salvadorian filmmakers dedicated to fiction stories instead of documentaries. Her international education in film has honed her storytelling abilities, with scholarships taking her to Panama and Guatemala.
Marroquin's filmmaking style is deeply intertwined with her identity as a first-generation immigrant Latina, a working mother, and a proud feminist, all of which influence her dynamic tales of empowered female and LGBTQ+ protagonists, wild characters embarking on quirky and poignant adventures that subliminally address modern social issues.
Since her graduation from the New York Film Academy's Film and Media Production Master program in 2015, Lily has been based in Los Angeles. From the challenges of motherhood to her passionate feminist voice and mentorships under industry luminaries, she strives to ensure that every film she writes, directs or produces can inspire and empower.
