Joel Reimer was born into a broken home on August 11th 1988 in the small town of Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada. As he was growing up he was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome around the age of five at which time it became apparent that he would not be following a normal path through life. Raised by his single mother and spending his days at his grandma's Joel quickly found solace and inspiration in films and video games escaping into a galaxy far far away or jumping on koopa's intent on conquering the Mushroom Kingdom. As situations in school turned toxic with bullying and home with a mother struggling to support her children, Joel grew increasingly fond of the art of story telling.

When asked in school what do you want to be when you grow up, most kids answered fire fighter, police officer, prime minister but Joel always answered Director and Producer. While other kids wrote journals, Joel scribbled out poorly thought out budgets, synopsis, one sheets, game mechanics and design plans. He would spend hours upon hours playing his Super Nintendo and watching VHS tapes of his favourite movies to the point that the plastic of the game cartridges and tapes would melt from the constant play. The world of entertainment offered a much needed escape from the painful hardships of life.

In his teens faced with his mothers remarriage Joel was placed in foster care, luckily he would only go through three fairly good homes. During his years in foster care the siblings he lived with were not as lucky. Surrounded by drug addiction, alcoholism and friends, siblings suffering from unbearable trauma's Joel had to be the strong one and push forward with his dreams and aspirations. After aging out of foster care some of the siblings he grew up with died or ended up on the streets. It took a couple years of despair, poverty and losing friends to jolt him into action so that he could follow his dreams by attending Vancouver Film School's Entertainment Business Management program.

Following graduation in 2013 near the top of his class he dove straight into film making producing independent short film like Starlight Starbright, a Television series pilot Into Wild Vancouver and his first feature film Filthy Swine in 2016. In 2016 with much pride and an amazing sense of accomplishment Joel became an Associate Member of the Directors Guild of Canada through which he began working as an Assistant Director on major series like A Series of Unfortunate Events for Netflix and The Magicians for Syfy. Today Joel seeks to empower others to follow their dreams regardless of what those dreams may be and create riveting content that challenges audiences to grow, learn and push themselves further than they are comfortable.
