Now that Yellowstone season 5 has concluded, fans are anxiously awaiting what's next from the Taylor Sheridan universe. Thankfully, there's a new season of 1923 coming to Paramount+ in February 2025, but there are also a number of Sheridan-produced series coming down the pipeline, including the highly anticipated new season of the Jeremy Renner crime drama Mayor Kingstown.

Back in December 2024, Paramount+ announced that Mayor of Kingstown was renewed for season 4 with Renner returning to reprise his role as Mike McLusky. Since the renewal, the streamer hasn't revealed too many details about the forthcoming season, like a filming timeline or a release timeframe, but we're learning more information about the new cast members joining Renner.

He will portray ‘Deputy Warden Torres’, the right-hand man to the prison’s new Warden at Anchor Bay Prison.

Mayor of Kingstown follows the McLusky family, power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan, where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither.

Jeremy Renner leads the cast in the role of ‘Mike McLusky,’ the titular leader of Kingstown, Michigan. Hugh Dillon, Tobi Bamtefa, Nishi Munshi, Michael Beach, Taylor Handley and Derek Webster also star.

The series is co-created by Oscar nominee Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon and produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios and Bosque Ranch Productions exclusively for Paramount+.

Netflix and creator Kurt Sutter have parted ways on the streamer’s western The Abandons.

Sutter, who created the drama and was serving as showrunner, left the show over creative differences with Netflix. The Abandons, set in the Oregon Territory in the 1850s, has a few weeks of production on its season remaining and will continue filming in Calgary, Alberta.

Netflix declined comment.

Netflix gave a straight-to-series order to The Abandons in October 2022. The series, which stars Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson, centers on a group of outlier families in 1850s Oregon who come together to fight a corrupt, wealthy power that wants to force them off their land. Deadline reports that Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter has exited The Abandons just three weeks before production on the first season of the Netflix series was slated to wrap. As always, the reason apparently comes down to those dreaded creative differences.

The report states that Netflix was concerned when the initial cut of the first episode came in at 1 hour and 40 minutes. It proved impossible to trim the episode down to an hour, so they decided it should be split into two. This required some additional scenes to create a cliffhanger for the new premiere, which have reportedly been written but not shot. After viewing the unfinished split episodes and part of the third, Netflix felt they “looked a bit disjointed and not propulsive enough.” A meeting between Netflix execs and Sutter to address the concerns didn’t take place before he departed.

Kurt Sutter has departed his Netflix series The Abandons just three weeks before the Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson-led Western is set to wrap, according to a Thursday report from our sister site Deadline.

Sutter, who created the series, was also serving as executive producer and showrunner. The Abandons executive producer/director Otto Bathurst and co-ep Rob Askins will be overseeing the remainder of production, which will continue as scheduled.

Kurt Sutter’s upcoming western series “The Abandons” is rounding out its cast.

Variety has learned exclusively that Ryan Hurst, Michael Greyeyes, Michiel Huisman, and Toby Hemingway have all joined the Netflix series in recurring roles. Exact character details are being kept under wraps.

The series marks a reunion for Hurst and Sutter, who previously worked together on the hit FX series “Sons of Anarchy.” Sutter created the series, on which Hurst played the character Opie for the show’s first five seasons. Hurst is also known for his time on “The Walking Dead” and shows like “Bates Motel” and “Outsiders.” He has starred in films like “Remember the Titans” and “We Were Soldiers.”

He is repped by UTA and Piper Kaniecki Management.

Greyeyes has previously been in films such as “Blood Quantum” and “Wild Indian.” His recent credits include the Taylor Sheridan series “1923” at Paramount+ and the comedy “Rutherford Falls” at Peacock.

The Cleaning Lady is about to peel away two big layers of the onion that is Arman Morales, in the form of his never-before-seen parents.

The latest installment in TVLine’s #2024FirstLook series comes from the Fox drama’s upcoming third season, which will introduce the mother and father from whom Arman is estranged: Teresa Morales (played by NYPD Blue‘s Jacqueline Obradors) and Eduardo Morales (Dexter‘s Jason Manuel Olazabal).

Clayton Cardenas, who starred as Angel Reyes in the FX biker drama Mayans M.C., has snagged his next role.

The actor has been added to the Season 3 cast of Fox’s The Cleaning Lady, Deadline reports. He will portray Dante, Ramona’s (Kate del Castillo) trusted lieutenant described as “intense and authoritative with a dangerous edge.” Focused on protecting the business, Dante “grows increasingly aggravated with Thony (Élodie Yung), who constantly undermines their operations.”

Exclusive: Coming off five successful seasons on FX’s Mayans M.C., Clayton Cardenas has set up his next project.

Cardenas has joined the cast of Fox’s The Cleaning Lady for Season 3 in the role of Dante, Ramona’s (Kate del Castillo) trusted lieutenant who is intense and authoritative with a dangerous edge. Unconcerned with anything but protecting the business, Dante grows increasingly aggravated with Thony (Élodie Yung), who constantly undermines their operations.

Del Castillo recently joined the series alongside Santiago Cabrera, who plays her brother Jorge Sanchez.

Hulu is in the early stages of development on a new chapter of “Prison Break” with “Mayans M.C.” cocreator Elgin James attached to write, from 20th Television, the network announced on Thursday.

The original series, which starred Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell as incarcerated brothers, ran on Fox from 2005 to 2008, with a one-season revival in 2017. The new series is expected to feature a fresh cast of characters attempting a daring jailbreak.

The original, which was created by Paul Scheuring, was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for Ramin Djawadi’s main title music. It also had a video game “Prison Break: The Conspiracy” released in 2010.

James will serve as writer and executive producer on the revival, with Dawn Olmstead, Paul Scheuring, Marty Adelstein and Neal Moritz set as non-writing executive producers.

The Rosenzweig Group has signed rising Australian actor Xavier Molyneux for representation in all areas.

Molyneux can currently be seen in Amazon Freevee’s reboot of the Australian series Neighbours in the role of Byron Stone.

Earlier this year, Molyneux made his film debut in Take My Hand, a romantic drama starring Radha Mitchell (Finding Neverland), Adam Demos (UnReal), Bart Edwards (The Witcher) and Meg Fraser (Bloody Hell). Molyneux plays a young Adam Demos in the film, which is currently in post-production.

Molyneux continues to be repped by Benchmark Creative Management in Australia.

As FX’s Mayans M.C. wraps its final season tonight, Deadline has your exclusive look at the penultimate day of filming in Santa Clarita, California.

As the sets were being broken down to make way for a new production in the future, series co-creator Elgin James celebrated Crew Appreciation Day alongside stars J.D. Pardo, Clayton Cardenas, Carla Baratta, Emilio Rivera, Sarah Bolger, J.R. Bourne, Edward James Olmos, Gino Vento, Emily Tosta, Andrew Jacobs and Alex Barone. Maverick James who played Maverick Reyes, son of Adelita (Baratta) and Angel (Cardenas), was also part of the celebration as was Baratta’s son Diego who was inside her belly during the show’s second season and was worked into the storyline.

For the festivities, the grounds were colorfully decorated and food trucks were serving the hungry and excited masses. Pardo and Rivera hosted a raffle giving away kuttes from both Sons of Anarchy and Mayans M.

FX’s Mayans M.C. season five episode 10 – the series finale – is, hands down, the best episode of the entire series. Amid all the blood and deaths, questions are answered, and dues are stamped paid. Not every character deserves their fate, but every death is, in its own way, justified.

Sons of Anarchy was Hamlet with motorcycles. Mayans M.C. is also a Shakespearean tragedy, complete with betrayals, love, loyalty, and murder.

Season five episode 10, “Slow to Bleed Fair Son,” begins with confirmation that Felipe has died. His funeral is the opening scene, with Angel (Clayton Cardenas) holding Maverick and Ez (Jd Pardo) solemnly staring straight ahead as “Were You There When They Crucified My Lord” is sung.

Sadly, the service has very few people other than Mayans in attendance. When the song ends, Angel and Ez...

FX’s “Mayans M.C.” is a tough, violent, and unflinching portrait of a Southern California motorcycle club fighting a bloody war to protect its territory. Yet it’s also a show filled with moments of subtlety and tenderness, in which the repercussions of violence for both the victim and the perpetrator are thoughtfully and powerfully considered. The balance between the harsh and the poignant that characterizes the show has been there from the beginning, but since Elgin James took over as sole showrunner in Season 3, the show has grown steadily deeper and more visceral, reaching its artistic peak in its fifth and final season, which ends July 19.

One of the key contributors to the evolution of the series’ tone and visual style is director of photography Vanessa Joy Smith, who was a camera operator on the first two seasons and then stepped into the role of cinematographer for the remainder of the show’s run.

FX Mayans M.C. season five episode nine – the series’ penultimate episode – serves up one of the most devastating deaths of its entire run…thus far. No one is safe as Ez continues to wage war with the Sons of Anarchy.

Episode nine, “I Must Go in Now For the Fog is Rising,” begins with Bottles (Alex Barone) and Guero (Andrew Jacobs) silent as they ride back to town in the back of a stranger’s pickup truck. Witnessing the destruction of Santo Padre’s cookhouse at the Broken Saints ranch weighs heavy on their minds as they head back to the clubhouse.

Sofia (Andrea Cortés) wakes and leaves Ez (Jd Pardo) in bed with Sally when suddenly Sally barks in alarm. Ez grabs his gun, responding to pounding on his door.

Still haven’t recovered from FX’s Mayans M.C. season five episode seven? Neither have I. But buckle up because episode eight – “Her Blacks Crackle and Drag” – doesn’t let up. The episode finds the Mayans saying goodbye to Creeper, Angel lost without Adelita, and Hope taking drastic measures to ensure Isaac can never hurt her or Letty again.

But, most importantly, the episode’s explosive ending might spell the end of Ez’s short reign over the prisons.

Episode eight opens with Downer (Angel Oquendo) and Guero (Andrew Jacobs) transporting the dead bodies of Diaz and Jinx. FX’s Mayans M.C. season five episode seven says goodbye to two major, longtime players as we head into the final stretch of episodes. The body count explodes in episode seven, with Emily finally getting her hands bloody instead of calling on Ez to do her dirty work, and a Santo Padre associate is taken out after being labeled the club’s rat. Plus, Ibarra’s son finally exacts his revenge at the most inopportune time.

Things are looking glum for all the characters on FX’s Mayans M.C. during the show’s fifth and final season but episode 6 titled “My Eyes Filled And Then Closed On The Last Of Childhood Tears” will push longtime fans over the edge.

Ez Reyes (J.D. Pardo) recruits his brother Angel (Clayton Cardenas) on a mysterious mission leaving the latter worried for his life. The pair arrives at an unknown location and they walk towards the front door as Ez, who has a gun pointed at the back of Angel’s head, commands his sibling to open the door.

“Mom wouldn’t want us to hurt each other. She would want us to be together,” an extremely nervous Angel tells Ez.

FX’s Mayans M.C. season five episode six begins with the Reyes brothers (separately) starting their days. Ez’s body is black and blue, and he dresses silently so as not to wake Sofia. Angel (Clayton Cardenas) emerges from trying to wash the weight of the world off of his shoulders in the shower and picks up his young son, telling Maverick it’s just the two of them as Adelita continues to sleep.

Angel makes toast for breakfast while holding Maverick. At the same time, Ez (Jd Pardo) gets into his truck and places a loaded gun on the passenger seat.

A quick pan around the clubhouse and yard shows that not a creature is stirring other than a fly buzzing around the bar. There’s an uneasy, ominous vibe to the opening minutes...
