Mahalet Dejene

Mahalet Dejene was born in Dire Dawa, Ethiopia. She briefly worked in television news after matriculating from New York University with both a Journalism and Spanish degree. Her first major television role was as a reporter on the hit HBO series "The Undoing." She is known for her recurring role playing Dr. Nyala Abebe on NBC's "New Amsterdam." Mahalet speaks fluent Amharic and Spanish.
