David Rutan

David Rutan represents clients in complex business cases, including disputes with international implications, such as foreign real estate developments and international distribution agreements. He has experience with shareholder and partnership disputes, fraud, real estate and land use disputes, breach of contract, unfair competition, trade secret disputes, and employment disputes.
Mr. Rutan graduated cum laude from the University of California, Irvine School of Law. He served as Staff Editor for the UC Irvine Law Review and was a quarterfinalist in Moot Court, where he won Best Brief. While participating in the Appellate Litigation Clinic, Mr. Rutan and his partner drafted briefs in two cases heard by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Rutan received the highest or second-highest grade in three classes, including First Amendment Law and Business Associations. While in law school, Mr. Rutan also worked as a law clerk at a business and real estate litigation firm.
