Jessica Holmlund
- Actress
Jessica Holmlund is an up-and-coming British-Australian actor raised on farms in the lush Northern Rivers of NSW. Her foster father, a British-born theatre actor first introduced her to acting as a child, but her unconventional family structure, and frequent bullying at school led to a sense of "otherness" that ultimately drove her to find refuge in the arts. Her passion for creativity led to early success in theatre and music - including multiple age-range championships and a Best Overall Performer title at regional Eisteddfods from a very young age.
Although her foster father insisted she first complete her education, film and stage always beckoned. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and English Lit from the University of Sydney, Jessica trained at Screenwise and TAFTA to hone her on-screen technique. Since then, Jessica has been expanding her skills and credits, excelling at sophisticated characters with a calm confidence and ethereal grace. Frequent characters include elegant socialites, steely professionals, and enigmatic fantasy characters - including recent roles as the elegant and romantic Cecily in The Importance of Being Earnest, an inscrutable Witch in an upcoming Fantasy-Drama Series and the unyielding Elizabeth in legal drama Pickpockets.
Beyond acting, Jessica is an AMEB-trained musician (singing, piano, and harp) and an experienced equestrian, having grown up on farms riding and caring for rescued ex-racehorses, and also trains in martial arts (Kali, Jeet Kune Do, and Taekwondo) and archery, bringing a powerful physicality to her roles. In her spare time - (whatever that is?) she writes comedy films and sketches, continuing to explore the many ways stories can connect us all, despite our many differences.
