James Tandy was born in Sutton Coldfield, England. He attended Birmingham Theatre School, making his acting debut in a production of Arthur Miller's "The Crucible." While at university he was in numerous productions, among them "The Grapes of Wrath", "Frankenstein" and "A Tale of Two Cities"; and was the recipient of the Sir Barry Jackson Award for Best Actor for his body of work.
Upon graduation James made his professional debut on TV's "Doctors", and in 2016 was cast as the lead in the American drama series "Helm's Curse"; shot in North Carolina. He continued to work both on stage and film, touring in the title role in "Macbeth" and in 2023, James was cast as the lead in the feature film "The Descent of Sanity."
