Pilar Calvo is a screenwriter and film director from Aragón, Spain.
After finish a Law Degree, in 2015 Pilar began in the theatre and audiovisual
universe. Pilar begins to produce and direct audiovisual works in a self-taught
and experimental way in Buenos Aires and Los Angeles.
Pilar Calvo started to study acting for film at Aaron Speiser's studio in Los
Angeles in 2015.
Her first videos and short films include:
"MARGARITA",a tribute to Margarita Carmen Cansino, selected and screened at SGAE EN
CORTO in the 2017 call in Madrid.
"WHISKY NEAT" , being a finalist at NotodofilmFest in 2019 in Madrid. "Whisky Neat" is her first
musical short film that tells the dream of a waitress, who, fed up with a monotonous existence,
fantasies about becoming a great musical artist.
The short pays tribute to the great Broadway musicals of the 50s and 60s through a personal
reinterpretation of "Big Spender" - a song written by Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields for the
musical Sweet Charity (1996) - choreographed originally by bob fosse.
"INTERGLUTEO", selected and screened at the Short Humor Comedy Festival of the Basque
Country in autumn 2021. Later, in 2023, Interglúteo adapted to Theatre is performed.
In 2024 she produces, directs and writes a psychological intrigue short film THE OTHER ME,selected and premiered at the "Mental Warriors" Festival in Wisconsin (USA) in May 2024.
