American Horror Stories, a streaming series spin-off from FX’s long-running horror anthology series American Horror Story, began with a seven episode first season in 2021, continued with an eight episode second season in 2022, and gave us a four episode third season in 2023. American Horror Stories season 4 is set to premiere on Hulu (and Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers) on Tuesday, October 15th. The new season consists of five episodes, and all five will be available to watch on that date. A trailer has arrived online to promote this new batch of episodes, and you can check that out in the embed above. It looks like the five episodes are called Backrooms, The Thing Under the Bed, Clone, Leprechaun, and X, which seems like a cool line-up.

American Horror Stories returns with Henry Winkler, Michael Imperioli, Debby Ryan, Victor Garber and more for when its five-episode season releases for what’s being billed as a Hulaween event.
The series — a spinoff of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s award-winning anthology series American Horror Story — features a different horror story in each of its stand-alone episodes.
The minute-and-a-half look at the upcoming installment, premiering Oct. 15 as part of Hulu’s Halloween lineup, teases new takes on classic horror tropes such as “don’t look under the bed,” a scary figure appearing in the mirror and a woman appearing in an empty parking lot late at night.
“When she dreams, things happen,” a nurse tells Ryan’s character. “What kind of things?” she replies, before a scene plays of her in bed with a man who is pulled under the bed.

Surprise! Just in time for spooky season, American Horror Stories is returning to Hulu (and Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers) with five new episodes, all dropping on Tuesday, Oct. 15, TVLine has learned. Even better, we’ve got ourselves a trailer.
As revealed in the trailer, the five new installments are titled “Backrooms,” inspired by online lore about liminal spaces and the nightmarish creatures dwelling within them; “The Thing Under the Bed,” in which a young girl has every right to fear the dark; “Clone,” which explores the dangers of human cloning; “Leprechaun,” which is fairly self-explanatory; and “X,” which...

The first trailer for “American Horror Stories” Season 4 is here, and it’s teasing all sorts of creepy crawlies. The five-night Huluween event begins on Oct. 15 and will only air on Hulu.
This first look teases the episode titles for the new season, including “Backrooms,” “The Thing Under the Bed,” “Clone,” “Leprechaun” and “X.”
“When she dreams things happen,” Jeff Hiller ominously says in the video. “What kind of things?” Debby Ryan nervously asks.
The camera then shows a clawed hand snaking out from under the bed while she and her boyfriend are kissing. True to the laws of every good horror movie, he’s sucked underneath the bed the second he goes to look. Watch the full trailer below.
In addition to Hiller and Ryan, Season 4 stars Michael Imperioli (“The White Lotus”), Henry Winkler, Victor Garber (“Titanic”), June Squibb (“Thelma”), Dyllón Burnside (“Pose”), Angel Bismark (“Pose”), Guy Burnet (“3 Body Problem...

Will the first time be the charm for Michaela Jae Rodriguez at the SAG Awards? Several of Gold Derby’s awards pundits predict the “Pose” star will win TV Drama Actress on what would be her first-ever guild nomination, including Expert Clayton Davis (Variety), Top 24 User dkalyagin, All-Star User Simonluca Barletta and myself, one of Gold Derby’s Editors. Awards pundits think the third (and final) time will be the charm for “Pose” at this year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards. The heralded drama series went off the airwaves earlier this year, which means it’s the last chance for SAG Awards voters to honor the show with its first-ever nominations. For its first two seasons, lead actor Billy Porter and lead actress Mj Rodriguez were both snubbed, as was the show’s ensemble cast. But Gold Derby’s SAG Award nominations predictions think that egregious oversight is about to be corrected.

The Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations will be announced on January 12, honoring the best performances in television and film for the 2021 calendar year. One of the most up-in-the-air races is TV Drama Ensemble, which notably will have 100% turnover as none of last year’s nominees are eligible to repeat again. Which dramatic casts will take their places on the nominations list? According to Gold Derby’s SAG Awards predictions for TV Drama Ensemble, the five nominees will be “Succession,” “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “The Morning Show,” “Pose” and “Squid Game.”

“Pose” star Mj Rodriguez made Emmy history this summer, becoming the first openly transgender actress to score a nomination in a lead acting category. While most of a viewer’s focus is often directed at the leads of a show, supporting characters can make or break a series, offering vital dynamics that uphold central narratives. Successful supporting characters in today’s television landscape must challenge protagonists when they cross boundaries, as well as strive to assert themselves through their own storylines.
An integral aspect of Zosia Mamet’s character Annie in HBO Max’s “The Flight Attendant” is in that aforementioned setting of boundaries — in both her work at a white-shoe law firm and in her friendship with Cassie, the catastrophically messy protagonist played by Kaley Cuoco, whom Annie has to perpetually rescue.
“A big part of her main journey throughout the first season is essentially learning to find a way that she can love and protect her friend — which is obviously the gut desire we all have for people that we care for...

Spoiler Alert: This post contains details about the Pose series finale.
Emotions continued to ride high for the House of Evangelista in a final chapter of devastation, celebration and a new generation.
On the heels of Angel and Papi’s wedding, Pose resumes with the grim realities of the HIV/AIDS crisis. Pray Tell (Billy Porter), whose days are numbered, admits himself to a hospital, much to Blanca’s (Mj Rodriguez) surprise and frustration. Just when Pray comes to accept his fate, Blanca learns of a potentially life-saving medical trial for those afflicted by the disease. With Christopher (Jeremy Pope) and Nurse Judy (Sandra Berhard), Blanca convinces the hospital head to add Pray to the trial, which has been largely closed off to the Black and Latino communities. Despite her initial hesitation, Blanca also joins the trial.

June 6 marks the series finale of Pose, a drama that enlightened the masses about 1980s and ’90s ballroom culture in New York that served as a haven of family and love for the Lgbtqia+ community — specifically for trans people of color. The finale aligns with the kickoff of Pride Month, and for Steven Canals, who created the series alongside Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, this is an end of a groundbreaking era of television and the start of a career destined to flourish.
For three seasons, Pose has put shine on the impact and influence ballroom culture has had on the masses. Deeper than that, it chronicled the history of the HIV and AIDS epidemic, tackled gender identity and the experiences of queer people of color that often go unseen and unheard. With a cast that includes Mj Rodriguez, Dominique Jackson, Billy Porter, Indya Moore, Ryan Jamaal Swain, Charlayne Woodard,...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched the penultimate episode of “Pose,” which aired May 30 on FX.
“It’s been a journey to get here,” Angel (Indya Moore) says to Lil Papi (Angel Bismark Curiel) on the penultimate episode of FX’s “Pose.” It’s the opening line of her wedding vows, but it also describes the creation of the very dress she is wearing.
“We were down for seven months and I had a lot of time to think about” the wedding dress, costume designer Analucia McGorty tells Variety. “When I finally got the script, I had this insane idea that I’d been ruminating [on] for a while about making a dress that was mechanical and that would physically bloom.”
When Angel first tries on the dress at the bridal salon, it is more in line with ‘90s fashion trends than the extravagance typically seen on “Pose”: an asymmetrical,...

Spoiler alert: Do not read this column if you have not seen the May 30 “Something Old, Something New” episode of FX’s “Pose.”
“Pose,” the FX series wrapping its three-season run in June, is a show that’s always been comfortable using exaggeration as a sort of wishful metaphor. Consider the show’s first episode, in which Dominique Jackson’s character leads a museum heist in order to ransack historical finery to wear at a ball. The characters, along with their show, use wit and ambition to procure clothes worn by royals, and redistribute them to Black drag artists and trans women. By bending reality, the show reclaimed the visual language of wealth and power. To mention that such a heist seemed unrealistic at best isn’t just not in the spirit of “Pose.” It is irrelevant to what the show was doing.

When “Pose” writer, director, and executive producer Janet Mock was thinking about how to conclude the groundbreaking FX series after three seasons, she landed on the idea of a lavish wedding ceremony. “It was my love letter to ‘Pose,’” Mock said to the New York Times earlier this year, “and to the women who watch this show, who are craving that sort of deep, deep partnership with someone who fully shows up for them and celebrates them and loves them in public.”
Spoilers Ahead About The Series Finale
The marriage ceremony between Angel (Indya Moore) and Papi (Angel Bismark Curiel) takes place during episode 6 of the final season (airing May 30) and afforded costume designer Analucia McGorty the chance to do something she hadn’t done previously.
“I wanted this whole season to feel like a big love note to our writers, our cast, our crew, to all of the fans.

[Editor’s Note: The following contains minor spoilers for “Pose” Season 3.]
Anyone who’s been watching “Pose” over its history-making FX run won’t be surprised to learn the colorful show about New York’s ball culture definitely goes out with a bang. No expense was spared on the third and final season of Ryan Murphy’s most influential period melodrama — and the makeup and costumes are just as indulgent as the sentimental storytelling. With all of the pain and heartache trans people of color face in the real world, “Pose” laughs in face of reality by throwing something much more celebratory onscreen. Throughout all three seasons, “Pose” remains the fiercest advocate for itself — and for the power of living your truth.
Not that “Pose” ignores the ravages of the AIDS crisis, discrimination, and violence faced by the most marginalized (and most fabulous) among us. This season pulls no punches with the tragic realities of life for LGBTQ people...

The groundbreaking FX drama “Pose” debuted its third and final season at an in-person premiere in New York at Jazz at Lincoln Center on Thursday. But while emotions over the ballroom series’ final bow were bound to be inevitable, what wasn’t expected was a blistering speech from executive producer and director Janet Mock, who sounded off on the industry, and her own show, during a lengthy takedown that left attendees stunned. (Via Page Six.)
“During the 15-minute speech, she complained about how much the network is paying her, demanded better treatment for the trans community, shouted ‘F-ck Hollywood,’ revealed that she’d slept with someone in the show’s crew, asked her ‘Pose’ actor boyfriend not to leave her over the infidelity, decried the quality of the writing on the show, and had a brief conversation with co-creator and Hollywood mogul Ryan Murphy from the stage,” the story reads.

“Does this make you uncomfortable? It should. It should make you f—ing shake in your motherf—ing boots”
“Pose” executive producer Janet Mock rocked the Season 3 premiere event on Thursday night with an emotional speech calling out Hollywood and even series co-creator Ryan Murphy, according to reports.

She praised the FX show’s stars, including Hailie Sahar, Dominique Jackson, Angelica Ross and Mj Rodriguez, but took aim at the industry’s treatment of trans talent. “When a talent asks you for a suite, you give them a suite because they need it,” she said.
“Why am I making $40,000 a motherf—ing episode? Huh?” she asked, calling for compensation in line with that of other producers. “I am angry. This is truth.

In what Hollywood hopes is a sign that live events are finally on the rebound, FX and 20th Television launched the third and final season of “Pose” with a red carpet premiere Thursday night in New York.
The event was held indoors at Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center. The socially-distanced, 200-foot carpet included clear plastic barriers between photographers. Reporters conducting interviews were spaced about six feet apart. Talent and reporters were kept four feet apart. The carpet itself was light blue and flecked with sparkles.
Walking the carpet were “Pose” stars Mj Rodriguez, Billy Porter, Dominique Jackson, Indya Moore, Hailie Sahar, Dyllón Burnside, Angel Bismark Curiel, Sandra Bernhard, Jason Rodriguez and Angelica Ross. Series co-creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Steven Canals were also in attendance as were Season 3 guest stars Jeremy Pope, Jeremy McClain and Noma Dumezweni.

For Steven Canals, the co-creator of the groundbreaking FX drama Pose, highlighting the stories of the House of Evangelista was first a selfish act. However, days before the final chapter premieres Sunday, Canals said Pose has evolved to support, represent, validate and celebrate the members of the Black, Latinx, Afro-Latinx and LGBTQ+ communities and other marginalized groups.

FX’s ballroom culture period drama “Pose” is signing off with its third and final season this spring — a season they pushed through the Covid-19 pandemic to finish, but truly has been many years in the making.
Although the final season will be short — only seven episodes — it tells stories that co-creators Steven Canals and Ryan Murphy discussed when they first began talking about the series five years ago.
“If you watch this season, and more specifically the finale, that was what it was always intended to be,” Canals said during a virtual discussion for the show on Monday. “If you go back to the first season, everything was a set up for this final chapter. Stories have a beginning, middle and an end, and this final season was the end of this three-arc narrative that we’ve been telling. … It’s us finally allowing our characters to explore what...

FX Networks has released the official trailer for “Pose” Season 3, the trailblazing trans TV series created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Steven Canals. Since its premiere in 2018, “Pose” has been glamor-kicking down doors previously welded closed, and from the looks of this debut trailer, the team shows no sign of slowing down. As it did between the first and second seasons, the narrative will jump ahead a few years, this time landing in 1994, with AIDS still devastating the queer and trans community.
Here’s what we know so far about the rest of the plot, courtesy of FX:
“In the final season of ‘Pose,’ time flashes forward to 1994. Blanca struggles to balance being a mother, a present partner to her new love, and a nurse’s aide. Pose will have one last hurrah at FX.
The cabler on Friday announced that the beloved series will wrap with a truncated third season.
The third season is set to premiere Sunday, May 2 at 10/9c, with the series finale set to air June 6.
“Pose has been one of the creative highlights of my entire career,” says co-creator Ryan Murphy of the decision to end it.
“From the very beginning when Steven Canals and I sat down to hear his vision and ideas for the show, it has been a passion project. To go from the beginning of my career in the late 90s when it was nearly impossible to get an LGBTQ character on television to Pose — which will go down in history for having the largest LGBTQ cast of all time — is a truly full circle moment for me."

“Pose” will end with Season 3 at FX.
The groundbreaking series was renewed for a third season back in 2019. The seven-episode final season is now set to debut on May 2 at 10 p.m. Et, with two episodes airing that night. The series finale will air on June 6.
“’Write the TV show you want to watch!’ That’s what I was told in 2014 while completing my Mfa in screenwriting,” said Steven Canals, executive producer, writer, director and co-creator of “Pose.” “At the time we weren’t seeing very many Black and Latinx characters — that happened to also be LGBTQ+ — populating screens. And so I wrote the first draft of a pilot the ‘younger me’ deserved. Pose was conceived as a love letter to the underground NY ballroom community, to my beloved New York, to my queer & trans family, to myself. I, along with my incredible collaborators, never intended on changing the TV landscape.
