Michael Edwards(LXII)
- Actor
Michael has been acting since he was at school at Ampleforth College in North Yorkshire in the UK. His dedication to the craft truly took hold after he took a play to the Edinburgh Festival at the age of eighteen with a group of friends in 2004. After producing and starring in many plays during his time at Liverpool University while studying International Business, he decided to go to drama school. It was at the Drama Centre London where he honed the tools of his trade and immersed himself in praxis and theory, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Acting in 2012. Since then he has worked consistently in film and theatre from the UK to Hong Kong, Greece, Austria and Australia. Most of his early work was around the London Fringe, where he starred in works such as Jekyll and Hyde (2013) at the Southwark Playhouse and The Dog the Night and the Knife (2014) at the Arcola Theatre. The larger houses he has played include his time with the Vienna English Theatre playing the role of Dan in Closer (2018) and headlining the Vaults Festival with the Belarus Free Theatre in Counting Sheep (2019).
Michael's background and expertise involve many different types of theatre, from traditional proscenium arch, 4th wall naturalism to full-on immersive and devised performance. He has drawn on his time studying movement psychology and dancing ballet at Drama Centre London and working with industry-defining professionals across the field.
He is dually based out of London and Athens, recently working in Onassis Stegi with the Future Now Festival (2020) and multiple film projects in and around Athens, including Animal (2022) directed by Sophia Exarchou, Be a Good Girl (2023) directed by Louiza Zouzias and Tehran and Kabul (2023, 2024) with Blonde Productions.
