Miranda Lambert Returned To Roots For New Album

Miranda Lambert released her first album with her new label this month. She left her long-time label, Sony Nashville, in 2023 to start fresh with Republic Records. Lambert literally returned to her roots to record the new album. Postcards from Texas is inspired by her original sound when she first made it big. The album features several songs that reference the Lone Star state. Miranda Lambert’s husband, Brendan McLoughlin, co-wrote one of the songs.

The Wicked Witch of the West's iconic hourglass prop from The Wizard of Oz has been sold at a recent auction for almost half a million dollars. The 1939 classic fantasy musical was one of the first feature-length films to have color, with the green Wicked Witch becoming memorable for her cackling laugh and flying monkey army. After capturing Dorothy, the Witch shows her an hourglass that counts down how much longer her friends — the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion — have to save her, and hourglass remains an important item throughout her captivity.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Heritage Auctions has sold the iconic The Wizard of Oz hourglass prop for 495,000. Multiple hourglasses were made for the movie, however the one that was recently auctioned off was used in a climactic scene of the film as Dorothy and her friends attempt to run away. Attention, my pretties, it appears that the Wicked Witch of the West’s iconic hourglass has found a new home.

The signature Wizard of Oz prop recently sold for 495,000. Heritage Auctions, a organization that’s known for auctioning off collectibles, described it as the “most famous and recognizable timepiece in film history.”

The piece played a central role in the movie, with which the Wicked Witch threatens Dorothy, saying with the hourglass in hand, “You see that? That’s how much longer you’ve got to be alive! And it isn’t long, my pretty! it isn’t long! I can’t wait forever to get those shoes!”

Over the course of the scene, the camera zooms in on the hourglass and shows that Dorothy’s friends, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion, are running out of time to save her from the Wicked Witch.
