Disney capitalized on its popular movies by releasing sequels several decades after the original films, setting the record for the longest gap between sequels. A sequel to the iconic film Easy Rider was released after 43 years, but was poorly received. The longest gap ever between live-action sequels was 54 years, as seen with Mary Poppins Returns, which successfully maintained the charm of the original.

It can appear like every popular movie quickly churned out a follow-up before audiences even had time to take in the first film, however, there were some examples of movies having decades-long gaps between sequels. In the world of animation, this was easier to do as characters didn’t age and sequels could pick up right where they left off without any issues, although live-action movies have also returned after seriously long breaks. Sometimes these sequels recast their long-dormant characters, but other times the original actor returned.

Secrets of Sulphur Springs will not be returning for a fourth season. Disney Channel has cancelled the series after three seasons, per Deadline.

Verna, the antagonist in The Fall of the House of Usher, may be depicted as evil, but is actually a shape-shifting character offering honest conversations to the privileged and powerful Usher family. Verna's deal with the Usher siblings ultimately leads to their deaths, but she is not the true villain. The Ushers' desire for wealth and success is what drives the tragic events in the show. Verna shows mercy to Lenore, Roderick's granddaughter, granting her a non-painful death and revealing the positive future her death will bring by creating a non-profit organization to help domestic abuse victims. When I read that Mike Flanagan was planning to turn The Fall of the House of Usher into an eight-hour mini-series for Netflix I did a major double take. I’ve read the story, and I’ve seen an astounding number of takes on it, from Roger Corman’s classic to reimaginings like The Fall of Usher and Lady Usher. But there was no possible way I could see someone getting eight hours of material out of it.

Mike Flanagan, the master of soulful horror whose previous Netflix series include "The Haunting of Hill House," "The Haunting of Bly Manor," "Midnight Mass," and "The Midnight Club," is returning this year with a mix of familiar cast members and fresh faces for "The Fall of the House of Usher." Though it takes its name from the short story by Edgar Allan Poe, the series is set in the modern era and incorporates a number of other Poe tales.

Netflix has built up a solid library of original horror series, from mega-hit "Stranger Things" to lesser-recognized gems like "Marianne." Following the success of "The Haunting Hill House," Netflix inked a multi-year overall television deal with Flanagan and his longtime producing partner, Trevor Macy. The pair were poached by Amazon in December 2022, so "The Fall of the House of Usher" will be the last "Flana-verse" show to arrive on Netflix for the foreseeable future.

Carla Gugino describes the new The Fall of the House of Usher limited series as “batsh*t crazy in the best possible way.” Netflix just released the first batch of photos from the upcoming adaptation of the works of Edgar Allan Poe by Mike Flanagan along with the cast list and a short synopsis.

Netflix has slated Thursday, October 12, for the premiere of The Fall of the House of Usher, its eight-episode limited series from Mike Flanagan based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe. The streamer also released some of the first images of the series, which you can see above and below.

Starring Bruce Greenwood, who replaced Frank Langella as the lead back in April 2022 after Langella was fired following a misconduct investigation, the series is described as an epic tale of greed, horror and tragedy. Poe’s short story The Fall of the House of Usher, which serves as the basis for the show, features themes of madness, family, isolation and identity.

It’s been a long road for the series, which was halfway through production when Langella was fired and his scenes had to be reshot.

Warner Bros. released Doctor Sleep into theaters several years ago, and while anticipation was high for a sequel, the latest Doctor Sleep 2 news confirms the film has been canceled. Secrets of Sulphur Springs is returning to Disney Channel later this month, and the cable network has released a trailer and key art teasing the third season of the series.

Starring Preston Oliver, Kyliegh Curran, Elle Graham, Kelly Frye, Landon Gordon, and Madeleine McGraw, the series follows what happens after a boy and his family move into a haunted hotel. Season three will find the characters dealing with a new evil spirit in room 205.

The Tremont hotel in Sulphur Springs is back and open for business, as “Secrets of Sulphur Springs” heads to Disney Channel and Disney+ screens for Season 3.

“No way we’re splitting up with an evil ghost on the loose,” says Wyatt Campbell (Landon Gordon) in the opening of the trailer.

“Usually Treemont is haunted in a fun way, but this time, not so much,” Wyatt says to his with his group of friends in another scene. The trailer shows the kids discussing the new ghost, which shows itself as black smoke and ooze creeping in and out of room 205.
