Image
Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting have announced the upcoming winter releases for our streaming service, Screambox. This includes dates for recent acquisitions Breathing In, 2024 Macabro: Mexico City International Horror Film Festival’s Best Film winner, and the cringe-inducing exorcism horror Deus Irae, an official selection of the 2024 Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival.

Reel Suspects Boards Argentinian Horror ‘Deus Irae’ – EFM
Image
Exclusive: Paris-based genre specialist Reel Suspects has taken world sales rights on Argentinian filmmaker Pedro Cristiani’s directorial feature debut horror Deus Irae.

The movie revolves around a priest who skirts the divide between the human world and realm of darkness through his membership of an order of excommunicated clergymen who carry out exorcism on possessed people, using both prayer and more violent means.

The cast features Pablo Ragoni, Gastón Ricaud, Sabrina Macchi, Jorge Prado, Agustín Rittano and Agustín Rittano.

The horror is an extension of Cristiani’s 2010 short of the same name which played multiple festivals.

The new feature world premiered in Argentina’s Mar Del Plata Film Festival last November, with XYZ boarding North America representation shortly after in time for the AFM.

Cristiani first made his mark in the film industry in 1997 as the co-writer on disappearing subway train drama Moebius, spearheaded by cinema professor and filmmaker Gustavo Mosquera R,...

First Teaser for Argentinian Horror 'Deus Irae' About Exorcism Priests
Image
"You want to condemn him?" XYZ Films has revealed the first look teaser trailer for an Argentinian horror film called Deus Irae, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Pedro Cristiani. He is adapting his own 2010 short film about a "secret order of evil-fighting priests" called the Deus Irae, who "protect the frail boundaries which separate this world from the mystical realm of darkness." One of the most acclaimed horror films this year is another Argentinian creation called When Evil Lurks - lots of great horror coming out of Argentina these days. Premiering soon at Argentina's Mar Del Plata Film Festival, Deus Irae follows Father Javier, who is part of the trio of excommunicated priests who hunt the possessed to exorcize them under their own terms: with Bibles, fire and shotguns. "Pedro is an immense talent and Deus Irae is a totally unique work." Starring Pablo Ragoni, Gastón Ricaud, and Sabrina Macchi.
