Nick Bohle (Boh_Lee) is the owner, founder and lead creative strategist of HatChap Productions Inc. HatChap is a full service award winning independent narrative and commercial media production company based in Lethbridge, Alberta with the mission to heal through the power of the stories we live and tell.
Nick is a graduate of both the Art Institute of Vancouver's Professional Recording Arts program (2010) as well as the University of Lethbridge's Dramatic Arts - Performance, Directing and Creation streams (2017). In 2022-23, Nick was one of 10 Albertan producers who were accepted into the Alberta Producers Accelerator Program funded by Access Canada. This very exclusive and highly valuable program provides professional mentorship and guidance to established skilled producers who are building episodic narrative works to be developed by these 10 Albertans right here in Alberta. Other participants include Scott Lepp (Prairie Dog Productions, Tribal), Tanis Parenteau (The West Wing), Gianna Isabella (Gate 67 Films, The Curse of Audrey Earnshaw) and more. Nick's personal mentors are Jesse Prupas (Muse Entertainment, Life of Pi, The Wolverine, The Coroner (CBC) & Tom Hastings (Head of Dramatic Programming at Paramount+).
Nick is a robust and highly skilled multi-disciplinary producer well suited for large productions. In 2022, Nick was a unit director of photography and unit production manager for the Telus Originals documentary, Aakaotasi produced by Colin Van Loon (Blackfoot Nation Films, Tribecca Film Festival). In 2019, Nick produced remotely as far away as Kenya, Uganda and Nairobi for We Make Impact (Non-profit) to support their efforts to bring clean water and enterprise to those affected by the African water Crisis. In 2010, Nick started his professional career as a dialogue editor, foley artist and final mix-down engineer for the 2010 VIFF "Most Popular Canadian Film," "Two Indians Talking" directed by Sara McIntyre. Over the past 13 years, Nick has additionally been lead field recordist and contributing sound engineer for multiple award-winning experimental short-films directed by Blake Evernden, including: "Spider," "A Wink or a Smile," and, most recently, for another suspenseful Evernden dark-psychological, comedic short titled "Rationale," which was selected at over 50 international festivals and took home over a dozen "Best Film" awards between 2020 and 2022.
Through HatChap Productions, Nick has also produced commercial advertising materials for a wide array of clients including: Volunteer Lethbridge Awards (2022), Purple Carrot Health and Wellness, The Mortgage Centre - Mortgage Worx, Luco Farms Mustard, Steep Peak Kombucha, Robyn Lilly Skin Care, Swinging 7 Ranch, John Scott, Empanada Days International Food Festival, Robert Bechtel (Abstract Visual Artist), The Lethbridge Soup Kitchen, The Trianon Art Gallery & more. Whether it is commercial, narrative or documentary productions Nick and his company have the skills, creativity, business acumen and resources to deliver compelling productions that stir the emotions and inspire audiences.
Nick is a multi-time Storyhive alum. He was awarded a $10,000 Storyhive grant as project lead in November 2018 to produce and direct a music video for local rock band, DEAD ARMY and recently produced the first ever comedy special funded by Storyhive for Just for Laughs comedian, Faris Hytiaa (releasing February 1st, 2023). Nick was also a mentor for the Community Stories pilot program through Telus and CSIF, organized by Sandi Somers and Corey Lee, where Nick guided young documentarians towards producing their first ever documentaries.
While film, television and media arts are a big part of Nick's journey, so-to is music/sound production, creation and exploration. Currently, Nick is the lead composer and sound supervisor for the Graphic Novel, The Dark Pulse by Chris Seiter (Florida, USA). His duties include, voice actor recording, post-production sound design, foley, composing, synchronization & more. Furthermore, Nick is a professional recording artist. His recent single release "Shake the Fear" is on Spotify with a music video production in early development. Notably, his 2019 single "Dreaming of the Moon" is featured in season one of the television series "Abracadavers" currently available on the Fantasy Network, Amazon Prime and iTunes.
If that's not enough, Nick is also the vice-president of the Lethbridge Independent Film Society (LIFS). The society works closely with local and regional organizations, initiatives and creators to provide opportunities for education, experimentation, dissemination and cultivation of the film-related media arts. Nick has been instrumental in acquiring sponsorships and building vital networks between LIFS and other media and film organizations like CSIF (the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers), AMAAS (Alberta Media Arts Alliance Society), IMMA (Independent Media Arts Alliance) and more. He leads by example and is determined to bring professional award-winning films to Southern Alberta and help evolve the industry towards a prosperous and inspiring future.
Finally, Nick is an established working Alberta-based professional film, television and theatre actor (ACTRA), represented by RJ Talent. Some of his notable acting credits include: "Stage 5" (Lionsgate), "Billy the Kid" (MGM, EPIX), "Wrath of God" (Independent - Directed by Kyle Fleishman), "Tribal" Season 1, Episode 8 (APTN - Directed Ron E. Scott), "Secret History of the Wild West" (APTN - Directed by Julian Black Antelope), "AT&T Direct - NFL Sunday Ticket" - US National Commercial, the role of Stanley Kowalski in "A Streetcar Named Desire" (Tennessee Williams - Theatre Outré - directed by Jay Whitehead - 2019), and the role of Darry in "The Outsiders" (Storybook Theatre - directed by Karl Sine). In May of 2017 Nick traveled to Dublin, Ireland to perform as an actor and composer in the tantalizing award-winning play, "Montparnasse" by Erin Shields and Maev Beaty (Theatre Outré - directed by Jay Whitehead) at Trinity College's Players Theatre.
In his free time Nick spends time with his partner, Sierra, their dog (Atlas), cat (Yuki Mushi) and enjoys adventures to new places around the world.
