Ameer Fakher Eldin is a writer and director based in Hamburg. He was born in Kyiv, Ukraine in 1991 to parents from the Golan Heights.
Premiering at the 78th Venice International Film Festival, his debut feature THE STRANGER won the Edipo Re Award in 2021 before enjoying great acclaim on the global festival circuit, winning several prizes, including the Best Arab Film Award at the 2021 edition of the Cairo International Film Festival and Shadi Abdel-Salam Prize for Best Film in the International Critics Week Competition. The film was later nominated for Best Director and won the award for Best Cinematography at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards.
THE STRANGER is the first installment of a trilogy called HOME. The second installment, YUNAN (in post-production), features a star-studded pan-Arab cast alongside several international actors in a co-production involving Germany, Canada and Italy. The cast includes renowned actors George Khabbaz, Ali Suliman, Hanna Schygulla, Sibel Kekilli and Tom Wlaschiha.
