Valerie is of British, Irish and Flemish descent. As a child, Valerie was always a very expressive child, imitating dialogues from animated movies or being active in the school play. She quickly showed her communicative and expressive skills as she gradually became fluent in Dutch, English, French, Spanish, Turkish and Persian. As a teenager, she developed her interests more and enrolled in a theatre ensemble, lead by Willy Wuyts, a well-known Belgian playwright and director of adolescent theatre. With the ensemble, she was selected for the 'Landjuweel', competition, a prestigious theatre competition for Flemish adolescents. After her studies in linguistics, Valerie obtained a master's degree in both journalism and international politics and diplomacy.
After she graduated, she decided to follow her passion and pursue a professional carreer in acting. She started her artistic carreer by acting in the Belgian movie 'Isra and the Magical Book', which had its theatrical release in November 2016. One of the advantages Valerie has as an actress is the fact she speaks many languages. Although not being of Turkish descent, she learnt the language, which lead her to her second feature film, 'Alatura'. This Turkish movie was released in Turkey in July 2017. Also in 2017, she starred in the feature "Flemish Snuff" and the short movie "Meulogy". Currently, (March 2018) Valerie is working on the movie "Kafana Göre Oyna", to be released in 2018.
Valerie is also regularly seen on stage. Last year, december 2017, she played a role in "De Paradijsvogels', and in March 2018, she played the role of Popova in "the Bear" by Chekhov.
