The year began with his cameo in the hit Varshangalkku Shesham, and then his next film was Thalavan, where he played a police officer and one of the main protagonists. The movie did well, and even a sequel was announced. While his next venture, Level Cross, wasn’t a huge success, many critics considered it a good film, with most reactions being mixed. Unfortunately, his next film, Adios Amigo, didn’t do well at the box office.

However, Asif Ali’s next outing was part of a multi-starrer anthology web series, Manorathangal, based on the works of M.T. Vasudevan Nair. Thalavan is a brand-new Malayalam language investigative thriller that also features two warring police officers working in the same police station. Their sour relationship takes a turn as one of them is accused of murder. Directed by Jis Joy, the movie follows the investigation with clarity to give the audience an idea about the motive and reason behind the murder. There is also the question of whether the arrested police officer was indeed the killer or being framed.

What Did Udhayabanu Find Out?

Thalavan begins with a retired DySP Udhayabanu running a show about old cases that had been solved. He was given an idea by the producer of the show about the infamous Ramya murder case. Udhayabanu was hesitant, but he chose to take up the challenge, and made it clear he would not sugarcoat any details about the case, which involved his ex-colleagues Si Karthik and Ci Jayashankar.

Digital NativeKannada actor Dhananjaya will soon be making his mark in other south Indian film industries as well. Reports are that the actor is on a spree signing deals in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. Incidentally, Dhananjaya currently has the Kannada-Telugu film Pogaru in the works, which will mark his debut in Tollywood. Pogaru, directed by Nanda Kishore, has Dhruva Sarja in the lead, with Shanvi Srivastava and Rashmika Mandanna playing the female leads. The star cast includes Dhananjay, P Ravishankar, Sadhu Kokila, Chikkanna and Kuri Pratap roped in for the supporting roles. The technical crew of Pogaru includes Chandan Shetty for music and Vijay Milton for cinematography; the film is bankrolled by Bk Gangadhar under his banner. Dhananjaya also has the Puneeth Rajkumar starrer Kannada-Telugu bilingual Yuvarathnaa, in which he will reportedly be portraying the villain.
