Rosales is the daughter of Filipino parents- her mother an Anesthesiologist, her father a former Navyman. Both parents came to the U.S. from the Philippine Islands- her mother of Agusan, Mindanao and her father of Illocos, Luzon. The Rosales household had always been culturely unique in that in addition to English, there were 3 different Philippine dialects spoken amongst family (Tagalog, Visaya, Illocano). As with many Filipino-American kids the language slowly faded from Rosales' upbringing.
