And then there were five. But only one of The Voice’s remaining Season 26 contestants can win the sing-off and go on to a career that we’ll all grumble isn’t as big as that of American Idol alumni like Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson. Whose chances of scoring that coveted prize are the best? Ahead of Monday’s finale (at 8/7c on NBC), let’s review our (high and low) notes.

Well, well, well. We certainly didn’t have “Adam Levine returns to ‘The Voice'” on our Bingo card. Did you?
Levine, one-fourth of the original “Voice” U.S. coaching panel, is set to return to his big red chair … but there’s a catch. He won’t appear in Season 26, due out in Fall 2024. Instead, he will return in Season 27, scheduled for Spring 2025.
See Carson Daly (‘The Voice’ host and producer) on longevity, Emmys and succeeding ‘in a post-Blake Shelton world’
The Maroon 5 front-man was part of the iconic Season 1 coaching panel on NBC with Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera and CeeLo Green. Levine left the show after 16 seasons, though he later popped up to taunt his “frenemy” Shelton, who remained in his chair until the end of Season 23.
Levine’s departure in 2019 caught everyone off-guard as he was expected to return to the judging panel in the following cycle.

For the first 16 seasons of “The Voice,” Blake Shelton and Adam Levine fully embraced their “frenemy” relationship as they frequently made fun of each other. Even though Adam left NBC’s reality TV series years ago, Blake still occasionally finds a reason to throw the pop singer under the bus. Case in point, during the April 4 episode of Season 23, Blake reignited the old feud when his artist Neil Salsich had to perform solo because his duet partner Alex Whalen withdrew from the competition.
“I told Neil before he came out here, I said, ‘Man, if you lose this battle it will be the worst fail in history. I mean, this would be some Adam Levine level failure stuff,'” Blake explained to fellow coaches Kelly Clarkson, Chance the Rapper and Niall Horan. For the record, all of the panelists thought Neil’s rendition of “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” was amazing,...

During Tuesday’s finale of “The Voice” Season 20, fans everywhere celebrated the return of one of the reality TV show’s original coaches, Adam Levine. The former occupant of the big red chair reunited with old “frenemy” Blake Shelton at the start of the episode. As you’ll recall, Levine was a coach on the reality TV program between Season 1 and Season 16, leaving unexpectedly after that and being replaced last-minute by Shelton’s girlfriend Gwen Stefani.
“I was just texting to say I can’t wait to see you,” a giddy Blake told a pink-haired Adam in the pre-taped video package. After they took a selfie together, Adam got annoyed by how excited Blake was to see him. When Adam walked toward the entrance of the building, Blake told him, “I’m texting you that you’re wearing two shirts right now. Did you get the text? Did you get it?...

He’s baaack! One of the most famous faces to ever sit in one of “The Voice’s” big red chairs, Adam Levine, is officially returning to the show. He’ll reunite with old “frenemy” Blake Shelton in the Season 20 finale, airing Tuesday, May 25 on NBC. As you’ll recall, Levine was a coach on the reality TV program between Season 1 and Season 16, leaving unexpectedly after that and being replaced last-minute by Shelton’s girlfriend Gwen Stefani. “Bring Adam back, the show is not the same without him!” That’s what “The Voice” fan Nancy Barry had to say about her favorite coach, Adam Levine, being absent for the first time in the history of NBC’s reality TV show. As a refresher, Levine opted to leave “The Voice” ahead of Season 17, proclaiming, “For me, it was time to move on.” The new episodes are currently airing on Mondays and Tuesdays, with the coaches being Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Levine’s replacement Gwen Stefani.

For the first time in the history of “The Voice,” Adam Levine is not one of the coaches. Say what?! In case you missed all of the drama that happened this summer, here’s a brief recap: Soon after signing on for Season 17 alongside Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend, Levine had a change of heart and announced his exit from NBC’s reality TV show in a lengthy Instagram post. “For me, it was time to move on,” Levine stated (see his full announcement below). “Voice” producers scrambled to replace the Maroon 5 singer, and they went with Gwen Stefani, Shelton’s current girlfriend and a former coach in Seasons 7, 9 and 12.

Let’s get one thing straight upfront: I’ve got nothing against The Voice’s Adam Levine. I’ve been attempting to sing Maroon 5 songs in the shower since “Harder to Breathe.” I only wish I was cool enough to pull off the I-just-grabbed-this-out-of-the-laundry-hamper look that he favors. And I’ve really admired some of the contestants that he’s coached on NBC’s talent show (especially Season 13’s Addison Agen).

“The Voice” coach Adam Levine took an interesting approach during Tuesday’s results show after Mari sang for the Instant Save … he scolded the show’s fans for putting her there in the first place. “It’s really upsetting that you’re even here right now,” Adam declared after Mari performed Sam Smith‘s “Latch” for the live Twitter vote. He then addressed “everybody out at home voting” by saying, “Because if you have eyes and ears you should never have let this happen.” Mari was joined by Lb Crew of Team Adam and Kim Cherry of Team Blake Shelton for this week’s Instant Save as they placed 8th, 9th and 10th of the Top 13.

Monday’s Night 2 of The Voice’s Battles couldn’t come fast enough to put behind us the “Oh, come on!” of Season 16’s first missteps by the coaches. And while the gaffes might not have been as egregious as Adam Levine throwing DeAndre Nico under the bus to champion inconsistent-at-best Reagan Strange in Season 15, I think we can all agree that (a) Kelly Clarkson messed up by pitting standout Mikaela Astel against her trio, The Bundys, and (b) her colleagues messed up by not stealing the superlative teen. It looks like Adam Levine is still in hot water. In our recent poll that asked “The Voice” fans whether they forgave the Maroon 5 singer for last season’s DeAndre Nico/Reagan Strange controversy, a whopping 70% said No. To compare, only 30% voted that Yes, they’ve forgiven Adam for throwing DeAndre under the bus when both of Adam’s artists found themselves in the bottom two. “The Voice” coach Adam Levine returned to his chair for season 16, which had its premiere Monday on NBC. The Maroon 5 frontman has been a coach for all 15 seasons of the show. However, he didn’t get anyone from his team in last season’s final following the elimination of Reagan Strange in the semi-final.
As you’ll recall, Reagan lost the Top 8 Instant Save to one of Jennifer Hudson‘s artists, Kennedy Holmes. That Reagan had made it that far was controversial, as she hadn’t taken part in the previous week’s Instant Save due to illness. Adam threw one of his other artists, DeAndre Nico, under the bus and urged viewers to save Reagan instead.

Have you forgiven Adam Levine for what he did to ‘The Voice’ artist DeAndre Nico last season? [Poll]
They say that time heals all wounds, but is that true for reality TV fans? Last season a huge controversy erupted on “The Voice” when Adam Levine threw his artist DeAndre Nico under the bus on live television. As you may recall, after DeAndre and Reagan Strange both placed in the bottom three, their Maroon 5 coach basically instructed viewers at home not to vote for DeAndre but instead to vote for Reagan, who was too sick to perform her Instant Save song. Adam’s plan worked, with Reagan making it into the Top 8 and DeAndre being eliminated. Have you forgiven Adam for what he did to DeAndre? Vote in our poll below.

Tuesday’s Season 15 finale of The Voice promised to be a real nail-biter. Kirk Jay, heretofore the frontrunner, had had an off night Monday, and Kennedy Holmes had turned in not one, not two but three dazzling performances. Adam Levine was stuck on the sidelines on “The Voice” final on December 17. Without an artist in the Top 4, he was reduced to making comments while the other three coaches — Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson and Blake Shelton — each took to the stage to do duets with their would-be winners. That Blake had two acts in contention for the season 15 title while Adam had none must have really rankled the Maroon 5 frontman.
You see Blake has won the show twice as many times as Adam (6 to 3) in their first 14 seasons on the show. The most recent of those victories for Blake was in season 13 when Chloe Kohanksi prevailed over Levine’s last top 4 finalist, Addison Agen. He could well claim his seventh title on Tuesday.

Adam Levine has been a coach on “The Voice” for all 15 seasons to date. But he hasn’t had an artist win since season 9 when Jordan Smith took the title. That was just the third victory for Levine, following his success with Javier Colon (season 1) and Tessanne Chin (season 5). The Grammy-winning frontman for Maroon 5 didn’t even have an act in last season’s final and the same fate befell him this season with the elimination of Reagan Strange on Tuesday’s results show.
Reagan was denied a place in the final four after she lost the Instant Save to one of Jennifer Hudson‘s artists, Kennedy Holmes. That Reagan had made it to the Top 8 was controversial, as she didn’t take part in last week’s Instant Save due to illness. Adam threw one of his other artists, DeAndre Nico, under the bus and urged viewers to save Reagan instead.

Kennedy Holmes made it into the final four on “The Voice” by winning the Instant Save on Tuesday’s results show over another artist on Team Jennifer Hudson, MaKenzie Thomas, and Adam Levine’s last remaining act, Reagan Strange. We asked viewers if this was the right result and a whopping 61% of you said it was. Do you agree? Read our recap of their three performances and then sound off in the comments section.
McKenzie was up first and did a cover of Patty Griffin‘s contemporary folk song “Up to the Mountain.” As our live blogger John Benutty noted, “This was a great song choice for her, finally taking a step back away from the diva ballads and giving us something we can all immediately connect to. As expected her big voice shined bright and she showed the same control, maturity and depth of talent that she’s had all season.

Even Adam Levine couldn’t save Reagan Strange from elimination this week on “The Voice.” She lost the Instant Save to Kennedy Holmes of Team Jennifer Hudson. Last week, Levine had intervened when Strange was too sick to sing in this sudden death match. He threw one of his other artists, DeAndre Nico, under the bus and urged viewers to vote for Strange.
That strategy worked and she made it through to the Top 8. At the start of the Dec. 11 results show, it looked like she might make the final four. Carson Daly revealed that two of Kelly Clarkson’s artists — Sarah Grace and Kymberli Joye — were the bottom vote getters and were eliminated right away by Carson Daly. Clarkson’s last act, Chevel Shepherd, made the top three as did Blake Shelton’s two remaining artists: Kirk Jay and Chris Kroeze.
That left Strange to face off against Hudson’s Holmes and MaKenzie Thomas.

And just like that, Kymberli Joye, the final gospel singer still in contention to win “The Voice” Season 15, was eliminated during Tuesday’s Top 8 results episode. Because Kymberli and Sarah Grace, both of Team Kelly Clarkson, received the lowest number of overnight votes for their Monday performances, the two powerhouse artists were not given the option of singing for their lives via the instant save. That meant Tori Kelly‘s “Never Alone” (watch above) ended up being Kymberli’s final performance ever on “The Voice.”

It’s crazy to think that after all this time getting to know Kymberli, fans weren’t even given a proper goodbye for their favorite gospel singer. Instead, Kymberli was quickly whisked off the stage before she could thank Kelly for coaching her or the audience for supporting her all these weeks.

During Tuesday’s Top 8 results episode of “The Voice,” pop singer Reagan Strange of Team Adam Levine was eliminated just prior to making it to the Season 15 finale. Since Reagan, MaKenzie Thomas and Kennedy Holmes placed in the middle section based on America’s votes, they all had to sing for the instant save. Unfortunately, Reagan delivered a pitchy performance of The Calling‘s “Wherever You Will Go” and was swiftly sent packing. Watch Reagan’s final “Voice” performance above.

After Tuesday night’s live elimination where a Top 8 cruelly became a Top 4, Blake Shelton managed to advance both of his artists, Kirk Jay and Chris Kroeze, to the finale. Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson will each have just one finalist with Chevel Shepherd and Kennedy Holmes, respectively. Three-time champion Adam Levine fell short with his team and will have to sit on the sidelines.
Next Monday, December 17, “The Voice” Top 4 will perform live for audience votes for the last time and then on Tuesday’s grand finale, the winner of “The Voice” season 15 will be crowned based on votes and downloads. Kelly will be defending her championship after winning with Brynn Cartelli in season 14, but Jennifer is looking to snag her first win as a coach in the U.S. and Blake is hoping to add to his collection of crowns, already six deep.

During Tuesday’s Top 8 results episode of “The Voice,” ballad singer MaKenzie Thomas of Team Jennifer Hudson was eliminated just prior to making it to the Season 15 finale. Since MaKenzie, Reagan Strange and Kennedy Holmes placed in the middle section based on America’s votes, they all had to sing for the instant save. MaKenzie delivered a powerful performance of Patty Griffin‘s “Up to the Mountain (Mlk Song)” and earned wows from the judges, but it wasn’t enough to keep her in the competition. Technically, The Voice’s Top 8 Results Show didn’t have a theme. But, unstated though it might have been, we all knew what it was: Thank you, next. Four singers were sent packing ahead of Monday’s Season 15 Finals, and going into Tuesday’s episode, at least based on TVLine’s poll, it seemed likely to be (sniffle) my beloved Sarah Grace, who’d already dodged more bullets than Wonder Woman; Chris Kroeze, who’s a fine singer but let’s face it, not exactly an electric presence on stage; Kymberli Joye, whose Tori Kelly cover hadn’t impressed you...

Apparently, “sorry” just isn’t in Adam Levine‘s vocabulary. So the way that he responded during Monday’s episode of The Voice to blowback from the preferential treatment he’d given Reagan Strange left something — make that everything — to be desired. And the NBC sing-off didn’t help matters any. Here’s how the Maroon 5 singer and the show botched what should have been an easy fix.

Only eight contestants remain on Season 15 of NBC’s The Voice, and Monday night found the frontrunners squaring off for a spot in the four-singer finale that will take place next week — plus some country mash-up fun.
As always, R&B powerhouse MaKenzie Thomas turned in a captivating performance, boldly tackling a Mariah Carey tune for the second time this season. Taking on “Vision of Love,” Thomas gave the 1990 hit a gospel makeover, standing in front of a waterfall of light and earning cheers from the crowd as the song’s energy rose halfway through.

The bottom three vote-getters as revealed by host Carson Daly will have to sing for the Instant Save on Tuesday’s show.

Reagan Strange sang “You Are the Reason” live on “The Voice” on Monday. While her performance of this Calum Scott song was good, it may not be enough to get her into the final. She is suffering a backlash from fans of DeAndre Nico, another of Adam Levine‘s artists, who was booted from the show last week.
Both Strange and Nico were in the bottom three vote-getters (along with Dave Fenley of Team Blake Shelton). Normally all three would perform one more time for America’s votes to win the Instant Save. However, Reagan was too sick to sing. Adam came to her rescue and threw DeAndre under the bus by asking viewers to rally around Reagan instead. His plan worked that night but since then has backfired as support for the departed DeAndre has grown.
Reagan tried to quash the controversy on the weekend by turning to Twitter.

Adam Levine had some ‘splaining to do Monday night. ’Cause as eager as we may have been to hear The Voice’s Top 8 perform, what really had us on the edge of our seats was the possibility of the coach addressing the upset that erupted in the wake of his emotional plea to vote for Reagan Strange, who had been too ill to sing for the Instant Save — over, it seemed, teammate DeAndre Nico, who had sung. #AdamSucks, cried Twitter — and we couldn’t disagree.
