Cobra Kai was a masterclass on how to blend nostalgia with fresh storytelling. The themes and plotlines of the story felt both familiar and excitingly new to me. Every time they featured a rivalry or a redemption arc, I’d have goosebumps, and I could never get enough of the karate showdowns.

This article contains spoilers for "Cobra Kai" season 6, part 3.
"The Karate Kid" movies started it, and "Cobra Kai" embraced it: the use of increasingly absurd special moves to win the day. The franchise was known for these game-changing, super techniques well before fighting games like "Street Fighter II" and "Mortal Kombat" made them popular, and the franchise never really stopped. As a result, "Cobra Kai" builds a wealth of these iconic moves to choose from, usually rolling out at least one every season. All of these secret techniques serve a specific purpose, but they vary greatly in power and the way they're used on the show.
For the purposes of this list, I'll focus exclusively on feats. As such, an efficient move like Johnny Lawrence's (William Zabka) Eagle Fang special, the Flying Tornado Kick, is out, simply because its two most prominent moments are comparatively underwhelming. Plus, one of them...

Spoilers for "Cobra Kai" Season 6 Part 3 to follow.
Prior to "Cobra Kai" tapping out with its final season, one of the show's creators, Hayden Schlossberg, admitted to The Hollywood Reporter that he and his fellow creatives were exploring the idea of a spinoff series that reveals the untold history of legendary "Karate Kid" sensei Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita). While nothing is set in stone just yet, it certainly seems like the gears are turning to ensure that the world of "Cobra Kai" strikes back in the future with a brand-new tale or two. The most important question to consider, however, is exactly which "Cobra Kai" characters deserve to be revisited down the line.
Mind you, every risky new venture comes with the opportunity to not only shift the tone but also move the larger franchise in a different direction. Just look at how "The Karate Kid" changed course with "Cobra Kai,...

Spoilers for "Cobra Kai" season 6, part 3 follow.
After a very respectable run of five regular seasons and a massive, three-part season 6, "Cobra Kai" comes to a close. Over the course of its 65-episode run, the martial arts comedy-drama has introduced a massive cast of karate experts who have clashed with each other so many times that a fan is bound to have at least some thoughts about their power ranking.
Putting together a list of "Cobra Kai's" greatest fighters is trickier than it seems. While it's easy to determine that ruthless military man Captain George Turner (Terry Serpico) is likely a better martial artist than young Bert (Owen Morgan), many of the show's major names have an extremely eclectic win-loss record that forces the reviewer to lean heavily into their status near the end of the show. For instance, Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan) is a beast, but he's also...

After six seasons of fights, personal grudges, and tournament showdowns, Cobra Kai has finally wrapped up. And with it, we can finally talk about the elephant in the room. Who are the strongest fighters in the entire series? Tournaments might decide who gets to take the trophy home, but, martial arts is more than that. The Karate Kid, and the larger franchise, would not really be a thing without it.
Cobra Kai, meanwhile, has never been short on badass martial artists. Call it experience, technical precision, or sheer scrappiness, unlike a lot of action shows where fights feel scripted, the show has always made it clear that if you want to win – all of those things matter. So, who really ranks as the strongest fighter in the show? Let’s break it down and see where everyone lands.

Quick LinksA Recap of Kreese and Silver in 'Cobra Kai'Kreese and Silver’s Final Moves in 'Cobra Kai'Kreese & Silver’s Journeys up to 'Cobra Kai' Season 6
Through its entire six-season run, Cobra Kai has always been about villains. At its core, the question fans had to ask is whether Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) was/is the real villain or Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio). The story expanded to include a new generation of kids, initially centered around Miguel (Xolo Mariduena), a young student dealing with bullies much like Daniel did, along with new bullies turned good kids like Tory (Peyton List), Robby (Tanner Buchanan), and Kenny (Dallas Dupree Young).
Of course, what would a show like Cobra Kai, which reopens wounds from The Karate Kid more than 30 years ago, be without some of its original villains? Two who returned to reprise their roles from the original franchise films definitely won’t be returning.

As “Cobra Kai” comes to an end after a six-season run and 65 episodes, it stands as one of the most successful examples of the “Netflix bump,” where the power of the leading streaming service’s platform gave a series a new lease on life and propelled it into the cultural zeitgeist.
Back when the series made its debut, “Cobra Kai” — a legacy sequel to the 1984 hit “The Karate Kid” that explored the life of the original film’s villain Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) — served as one of the crown jewels in YouTube’s push into original content via YouTube Premium (formerly YouTube Red). Despite toiling in relative obscurity behind the subscription tier of the new service, the show premiered to quite a bit of success and positive reviews in 2018, garnering 50 million views in its first five months and earning a Season 2 renewal just six days after its launch.

After seven years of crane kicks, comebacks and character growth, “Cobra Kai” bows out this week with its final five episodes on Netflix. It’s been a wild ride, sometimes straining credibility with the sheer volume of interpersonal drama piled atop its martial arts warriors. But at its heart, the series always understood what made “The Karate Kid” mythology endure since 1984. Instead of merely taking audiences on a nostalgia trip full of familiar faces and places, “Cobra Kai” carved out its own identity elevating it beyond yet another ’80s relic wheeled out for sympathy.
In a bid to make the parting that much more sweetly sorrowful, Netflix stretched the farewell season to 15 episodes (instead of the usual 10), rolling them out in chunks since last summer. This final batch ties a black belt around the ever-expanding storylines that have steadily interwoven over the years, centering, of course, on the dynamic between...

Cobra Kai never dies in this new trailer for the show that continues the legacy of the Karate Kid films. Part 3 of Cobra Kai‘s finale has premiered its final trailer, courtesy of Netflix, and the show is inevitably taking it all back to where it started at the All-Valley Tournament. Imagery of nostalgia continues as shots of Daniel and his now ally, Johnny, both train in the crane kick on the beach like in the original Karate Kid and a trailer mix of “You’re the Best Around” will pump you up for the final round of karate combat.
The season synopsis reads,
“After a shocking result in the Sekai Taikai, Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai must reckon with their pasts while facing an uncertain future both on and off the mat. Almost 40 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, it’s all been leading to this.

On Thursday, Netflix revealed its full 2025 TV slate. The lineup includes the final seasons of two of its biggest shows, Stranger Things and Squid Game, and a second season of its other biggest show, Wednesday. It also includes promising-sounding limited series like Black Rabbit and The Four Seasons, returns of longtime Netflix favorites like Black Mirror and Chef’s Table, an overwhelming number of sports documentaries, and dozens more shows.
The biggest piece of news in the announcement is the startlingly soon release date for Squid Game Season 3. The second and third seasons shot back-to-back, and so the final season is slated for June 27, just six months after the release of Season 2. Netflix also revealed a handful of previously unannounced projects, including a 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina documentary that counts Spike Lee as a director, and a Long Island serial killer docuseries from director Liz Garbus.

While all the characters in Cobra Kai showcase tremendous karate skills, the actors who play them aren’t all proficient in the martial art, or any martial art, for that matter. Some of them, however, do have extensive training in real life. Thomas Ian Griffith, for example, who plays Terry Silver, has been studying karate since he was in high school and has amassed more than 40 years of training. Sean Kenan, who plays Mike Barnes, was initially hired for The Karate Kid III because he already had karate experience.
What about the younger, new cast members? Some of them have dabbled in martial arts prior to receiving training for this series. In the latest and final sixth season of the series, one actor who has real-life martial arts experience is Rayna Vallandingham, who plays the fierce Iron Dragons student and social influencer Zara Malik.

When actors take on physically demanding roles in movies and TV shows, it often requires intense training. This might involve hand-to-hand combat, gun use, a specific sport, and martial arts. When it comes to Cobra Kai, almost everyone in the cast has had to show off martial arts skills as they engage in fight scenes both in the dojo and outside of it. But fans are curious: did any of the actors who play the main characters have prior training, or did they all have to fast-track learning the basics of karate to make it believable?

Cobra Kai will wrap up its successful six-season run in February. While the series has featured some unexpected storylines, the show's composers, Zach Robinson and Leo Birenberg, say the final episodes will take fans through a rollercoaster of emotions.
Speaking to Screen Rant, Robinson reflected on his time with Cobra Kai and how his work has mirrored the evolution of the series. "I'm not going to lie, it was pretty intimidating to watch those last 15 minutes of Season 6, Episode 10," he said. "But I think we have grown so much as just composers and our writing has gotten better because this show has consistently pushed us every single year. You can't say that about a lot of projects that you work on."

Since premiering in 2018, Cobra Kai has been attracting more and more viewers, keen to relive the nostalgia of the 1980s. The show truly blew up when it moved to Netflix, and it's been going from strength to strength ever since. Reuniting some of the most popular characters from The Karate Kid trilogy, the show shined a spotlight on this classic of martial arts for a whole new generation, with some of Cobra Kai's actors being real, trained martial artists.
With former Karate Kid characters like Daniel Larusso, Johnny Lawrence, and John Kreese reuniting, and a newer, younger cast learning the skills from scratch from Cobra Kai's senseis, it's interesting to see the different approaches to training and fighting. With some of the students trained in the way of Cobra Kai, with a focus on striking first, striking hard, and absolutely no mercy, and others practicing the peaceful teachings of Mr.

When Cobra Kai first started out, the show focused on the age-old rivalry between Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Larence (William Zabka). Their built-up resentment was then mirrored by Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) and Robbie's (Tanner Buchannan) on-screen fighting throughout season 1 and beyond. But, there was another serious antagonism about to brew when a new character entered the scene to challenge a previously unchallenged Samantha Larusso (Mary Mouser).
Tory Nichols (Peyton List) showed up in season 2 with an edge and a lot of trust issues. She got close to Miguel, and then Robby, all the while, Sam was dealing with her own romantic entaglements with the boys. Completely different backgrounds and upbringings, plus the romantic rhombus that had developed, led to a lot of animosity between Cobra Kai's young leading ladies. Over Cobra Kai's six seasons, Sam and Tory fought many times, with the Cobra Kai actors often performing their own stunts.

Cobra Kai may be ending with Season 6, but the future of the franchise just received a positive update from co-creator Jon Hurwitz. The showrunner took part in a Q&a session on X/Twitter ahead of the release of the final episodes of the series, and among the many questions he responded to, one particular comment caught the attention of many fans.
The popular Netflix series, which aired its original episodes on YouTube Red, is a sequel series to the original Karate Kid movies, and although the new series will conclude this story, the franchise is already set to continue with the new legacy sequel, Karate Kid: Legends. The new movie will see Raph Macchio once again reprising his role as Daniel Larusso, this time teaming up with Jackie Chan’s Mr. Han to train another young "Karate Kid," Ben Wang’s Li Fong.

Cobra Kai creator Jon Hurwitz has an exceptional update about a potential spin-off. The show, which was a sequel to the Karate Kid franchise, is coming to an end with the upcoming Cobra Kai season 6, part 3. A sequel movie, Karate Kid: Legends, is already in development. It will follow Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) working with Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) to help train the young Li Fong (Ben Wang), and it will be released on May 30, 2025. While it does mean a future for many characters from the franchise, some remain in limbo.
In a post on his official Twitter account, Hurwitz announced that he is "actively working" on a potential spin-off. While he did not officially state that there would be a follow-up show, he did emphasize that he has high hopes for the project. Check out his post below:
I hope so. Actively working on it. #CobraKai https://t.co...

The season has highlighted his character Kenny Payne's complete arc: from being an antagonist in Season 4 to now a member of Miyagi-do helping to represent them on the world stage. He's also dealt with ups and downs across the first two batches of episodes. So what is all that like for the actor who plays him?
In an interview with Cbr, Young spoke about Kenny's role in Cobra Kai both changing and expanding over the years. He also discussed the importance of Kenny's relationship with his brother Shawn and one of his favorite scenes in the entire series. Plus, find out what he's learned as Kenny has learned and grown.

Quick Links Who Is the Biggest Villain in 'Cobra Kai' Season 6, Part 2? Sensei Wolf's Backstory, Explained Why Is Sensei Wolf so Dangerous?
Cobra Kai is all about the villains versus heroes storyline. The initial focus was on answering the question of whether Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) was truly the villain of The Karate Kid or if it was actually Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio). The story expanded to focus on a new generation of karate kids, many taking the role of a villain through the seasons, like Hawk (Jacob Bertrand), Robby (Tanner Buchanan), and Kenny (Dallas Dupree Young).
Then, the series began to re-introduce other adult villains reprising their roles from The Karate Kid franchise, like John Kreese (Martin Kove), Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith), and Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto). In the second part of the final sixth season, however, a new villain is introduced, and he could potentially be the worst one yet.

Cobra Kai season 6 part 2 is now streaming on Netflix. There are five new episodes of the hit Netflix original series for fans to watch. I binge-watched all five episodes of part 2, and I have to talk about the season 6 part 2 ending.
It is absolutely the most insane ending of a Cobra Kai episode since... probably ever. It's even wilder than the Cobra Kai season 2 finale when Robby (Tanner Buchanan) almost killed Miguel (Xolo Maridueña).

Daniel, Johnny and Chozen's partnership is on rocky ground heading into Cobra Kai season 6 part 2. Part 1 of the Netflix Karate Kid show saw Ralph Macchio and William Zabka's protagonists combining their Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang teams to choose the best fighters for the Sekai Taikai. Though their different teaching styles initially created tension, things became worse by the end of the first part of the season, as Daniel became distracted by a box of secrets about Mr. Miyagi's past, Johnny is trying to save some money to get him and Carmen a home before she gives birth to their child, and Chozen considers returning to Okinawa.

The trailer for Cobra Kai season 6, part 2, focuses on Miyagi-Do facing 15 brutal dojos and former friends at the Sekai Takai. With the decision to split the Emmy-winning Netflix dramedy into three parts, series co-creators Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald, and Hayden Schlossberg structured Cobra Kai season 6 with the goal that each individual five-episode drop focuses on one specific aspect of the story.
Netflix has released the trailer for Cobra Kai season 6, part 2, which releases all five episodes on Friday, November 15, and it looks to focus heavily on the high-profile Sekai Takai tournament. In the almost two-minute trailer, which can be viewed below, the monumental occasion is clearly taking its toll on the main characters. This is particularly evident in one scene, which shows Miguel sobbing in Johnny's arms. The trailer ends with a character seemingly ready to use a knife as a weapon.

Johnny Lawrence, Daniel Larusso and their students are headed overseas to compete in the international Sekai Taikai tournament in a new trailer for “Cobra Kai” Season 6 Part 2, which will drop on Netflix on Nov. 15.
The trailer shows the group landing in Barcelona, Spain and the group entering the doors of the karate competition, where they’re set to face off against 15 other teams. In addition to new rivals, Miyagi-Do will also deal with the fallout of Tory Nichols (Peyton List) defecting to Cobra Kai, while also fighting to stay united as internal rivalries bubble to the surface.
“We’ve heard all this garbage going around about loyalty. Almost all of us are trained somewhere else at some point,” Lawrence says in the teaser. “What matters is where our asses are now. We’re Miyagi-Do and we’re not losing. So wipe the smirks off their ugly faces.”
