José Solórzano Híjar was born in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico.
He obtained a bachelor's degree in communication with a specialty in cinema in 2014 at the Universidad Iberoamericana (Mexico City). After finishing his bachelor's degree, he continued his career in filmmaking working for several years in many different types of productions in the Mexican film & television industries as a First Assistant Director, ranging from feature films & television series to advertising & music videos.
He has directed/produced/written several short films in his career in both English and his native Spanish, and his work has been part of the official selections of several international film festivals around the world. He was also one of the recipients of the grant "Apoyo para Jóvenes Creadores (Support for Young Creators)" in the category of Screenwriting for Film awarded by the Department of Culture (FONCA) of the Mexican Govt.
On 2021, he graduated from a Master of the Arts course in Film Direction at MET Film School (London, UK). He currently resides and works as a film director in London, UK. He specializes in fiction/realistic drama narrative filmmaking.
