Anastasios (Tasos) Karydis is an actor, director, writer and music composer born in Athens, Greece. At the age of five he enrolled in the National Conservatory of Athens, the most prestigious conservatory for the arts in Greece. There he studied piano and classical music. He studied civil engineering but his love for the arts won him over. After graduating from university of Piraeus he studied in Athens jazz guitar and vocals in Atheneum conservatory, musical theatre at drama school "theatre of changes," acting at "theatre of changes" and "Iasmos," film directing at "Ant1 media lab". In 2011 after graduating from "theater of changes" Anastasios starred in the musical "Basikos Misthos." The play was performed during that spring in the prestigious theater "xythrio" in Athens. It was directed by the acclaimed actor, director and writer Kostas Krommydas and produced by Antony Armani. Anastasios collaborated with the same director during the summer of that same year and played a leading role for the theatrical drama "mi me lismonei" .That same year he appeared in the video clip of Panos Mouzourakis big hit song "Fila me akoma," a cover from the famous Italian song "BACIAMI ANCORA," composed by Italian artist Jovanotti. This clip, directed by Myra Stylianou was awarded at the MAD Video Music Award for best Alternative Video. In 2012-13 he collaborated with the legendary house band of "STAVROS TOY NOTOY," the biggest rock music venue in Athens.In 2014 he worked as an actor and assistant director for "Horme Pictures" a film producing company. He also produced the short film "LE REGARD" the same year, which was nominated at the 2014 Navi Mumbai International Film Festival in Mumbai, India. The next year he worked alongside director and producer Vasilis Mazomenos as a production manager for the short film "Short Cut," and assistant director for the short film "one size", and played the leading role in the film "Mother's Son," which was a nominated film at the 2015 Athens international film festival in Athens, and was awarded at the 2015 London Greek Film Festival. He wrote and directed the movie "Depth," in which he also acted. The film was nominated for directing at the 2015 International Short Film Festival in Drama, Greece and at the 2015 Athens International Film Festival in Athens, Greece. The following year he starred in the touring musical "Sklira Karydia". The play was very successful and toured for over a year. It was also performed for one exclusive show at "TEXNOPOLIS" Djangofest - Athens Gypsy Jazz Festival on September 21, 2016 in front of an audience of more than three thousand people. In 2016 Anastasios (Tasos) Karydis produced the film "A boat, a cigar and Marx," and wrote the script for the film "The Last Dinner." In October 13, 2017 he collaborated with the cultural division of the Pan-Cyprian Association of New York, for the "Manos Loizos, a tribute concert" that was directed and conducted by Phytos Stratis. On October 14, 2017 he performed as a member of the Pan-Cyprian Association choirs leading singers beside the famous Greek singers Manolis Mitsias and Dimitris Mpasis at the Bergen County Academies Auditorium in Hackensack, New Jersey.The show was also performed on October 15 at the "QUEENS THEATER IN THE PARK" in New York. In 2018 he was chosen to play the leading role of "Orestes" and serve as the composer and assistant director for "Electra by Sophocles," on February 24 at "QUEENS THEATRE" in New York. The show was directed by the award winning and acclaimed Greek tragedy director Leonidas Loizides and produced by the cultural division of the Pan-Cyprian Association of New York. The same year he starred with one of the most famous greek actors Stratos Tzortzoglou in the theatrical comedy "Ta Filarakia". A big success and high rated by audience, critics and the press.Tasos Karydis was also chosen to have the leading role of "Ganemedes" in the musical FAUX-BIA.
