Nicholas Hong is Korean-Canadian Art Director and Visual Development Artist, based in Toronto, Canada. Before coming to Toronto, Canada when he was 13, he was building his Art fundamentals at the private Art academy to prepare to enroll in Art high School in Seoul, South Korea. When He moved to Canada with his family, he was struggling to find his direction in his life and study in Art. When he was suggested to try Animation school, he tried but got rejected and at the end of third trial, he finally got accepted. After first year of studying Animation program at Sheridan Institute, he found his calling in Concept Art for Animation. After receiving a BA in Animation at Sheridan College in 2013, he made first step into Animation Industry in Vancouver, Canada, working as a designer for clients such as Nickelodeon and DreamWorks TV for Netflix. In 2015, He had received Mentorship Award from Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators Conference in LA. In addition, working on Mural project for BC Children's hospital has also tremendous experience for him. These experience has encouraged him to continue to evolve and pursue his illustrative style that tells stories with warm mood and emotion. In 2017, he took an opportunity to move to Montreal and worked on Feature Animation project at Cinesite as a Visual Development artist. In November 2018, he founded Kooma Studio Inc. where he made an interactive game app for preschool kids with his friend, App developer. In 2020, He works as an Art Director at Fresh TV Animation Studios on 3D/Live Action Animated TV Series, Lucas the Spider, distributed for Cartoon Network and Boomerang. He appreciates every moment to be able to pursue creative projects that make people happy and bring positive energy for children and all ages.
