Stars: Alicia Silverstone, James Tupper, Deirdre O’Connell, Danny Chung, Kha Mai | Written and Directed by Le-Van Kiet
Opens with an oddly “fake” looking scene that feels like it was shot entirely on a green screen soundstage – which for all I know might be true, especially given the copious amounts of CGI featured in the film as a whole… Yes, we’re in CGI shark territory (combined with stock footage – how very The Asylum of this film) in this one folks!
The Requin, aka From Below, stars Alicia Silverstone [Sidebar; who would have thought we’d ever see Alicia Silverstone in a shark movie? Seriously?] as Jaelyn who, along with her husband Kyle (James Tupper) are on holiday in Vietnam following Jaelyn’s miscarriage. Of course, being a shark movie we know things aren’t going to go according to plan for the couple. Kyle gets injured whilst swimming, his blood pouring into the ocean waters like some sort of obvious foreshadowing, whilst Jaelyn has flashbacks to her miscarriage.

"We need to focus on surviving!" Saban Films has revealed the first official trailer for another new shark horror movie titled The Requin, this one made in Vietnam by a Vietnamese filmmaker named Le-Van Kiet. He last made the action film Furie a few years ago. A couple on a romantic getaway to the beach in Vietnam find themselves stranded at sea when a tropical storm sweeps away their villa. In order to survive, they are forced to fight the elements. But soon a school of Great White sharks circle below. This sounds like another "been there, done that" kind of concept, no? But everyone loves shark movies and is always frightened by them. Alicia Silverstone and James Tupper star as the couple, with a small cast including Deirdre O'Connell, Jennifer Mudge, and Danny Chung. This looks terrifying, but also looks like a copy of every other shark survival movie.

Clubhouse, the buzzy audio social network, is moving into original programming.
The platform, which has seen an influx of members from Hollywood over the last twelve months, is funding a slate of audio pilots.
The scheme will see it hand a slew of creators $5,000 a month for three months and a panel of judges will listen to each pilot with some chosen to go forward as Clubhouse-backed shows on an ongoing basis. All Clubhouse members will be able to listen to the pilots (see full list below). Creators will retain all IP to their shows.
Its Creator First Pilot Season is designed to help support new voices on the platform and the company says this is just the “beginning of a significant wave of new programming”.
“Pilot Season is a throwback idea from the entertainment industry with a modern Clubhouse spin,” it said. “You’ll be hearing from creators around...
