Biography

    • South African-born Roydon Turner is a London-based businessman, philanthropist, research adviser, film director, writer, and producer. Following a distinguished 20-year career in the arts, he transitioned to filmmaking, winning the London Independent Film Festival.

Roydon co-wrote, directed, and produced Heart of Hope during the pandemic, a poignant film about a young girl awaiting a heart transplant. His passion lies in tackling challenging subject matter through stories that are both uplifting and thought-provoking.

Iris Warriors marks Roydon's latest on-screen ballet. While musicals have long made the seamless transition from stage to screen, how many ballets have done the same? This question inspired Roydon to create a new genre: ballet drama. This concept fuses the captivating artistry of live ballet with the emotional depth and narrative power of cinema.

Beyond filmmaking, Roydon is a trustee of the charity Live Life Give Life and the founder of Orgamites, a leading not-for-profit initiative that teaches children about organ donation. Developed in collaboration with the Onassis Foundation, Team Margot, Canadian Blood Services, ESOT, and his holding company, All Good Co. Orgamites has garnered support from NHS England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. Moreover, Roydon is in partnership with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the University of Cape Town.

Quotes

  • Find a way. I've always had the will and the drive to bring ideas to life. Every project presents its own challenges-of time, budget, or scale-but there's always a way through, around, or beyond them. Discovering that way is as much a part of the craft as the creation itself.
