Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips are one of the most celebrated writer/artist collaborations in all of comics, and they’ve recently announced their newest project: Night Fever, an original graphic novel from Image Comics that continues the duo’s crime noir legacy.
Having worked almost exclusively in long-form graphic novel projects over the last few years, Night Fever is the next offering from the acclaimed Brubaker/Phillips team, in addition to their long-time colorist, Jacob Phillips. The original graphic novel tells the story of businessman Jonathan Webb, who finds himself unable to sleep while on a work trip in a foreign town. While wandering the streets, he meets a mysterious stranger named Rainer, who leads him on a dark and violent journey. This December, to cap off both Spawn and Image Comics’ 30th anniversaries, the publisher will release variant covers uniting Todd McFarlane’s epic creation with some of Image’s biggest properties. The covers, to be illustrated by many of today’s top artists, will reach across nearly every Image title releasing in December, including The Walking Dead, Radiant Black and The Department of Truth. Do you like scary movies? What about comic books? Are Westerns more your thing? If you're a fan of any one of those mediums or genres, then you've come to the right place. In June 2020, the first issue of the creator-owned series That Texas Blood was published by Image Comics. This first issue, "The Casserole Dish," was written by newcomer Chris Condon with artwork and coloring done by Jacob Phillips, a dream team who struck gold from the very beginning and have been together ever since. These two worked hard to craft a specific atmosphere and aesthetic to the series that looks and feels like a real small town you could drive through while traveling across West Texas, complete with a series of Spotify playlists to keep the mood.
