Peter Herold is a director, writer, actor and cinematographer residing in Detroit, Michigan. Fascinated by performance, film, and storytelling, Peter began acting in childhood, starring in productions ranging from Shakespeare to contemporary theater. Growing up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, by the age of five he had four parents-all psychologists. A bizarre upbringing that instilled in him a strong, universal understanding of the human condition. Through cinema, he yearned to challenge and explore different perspectives that complicated that condition. At 22 he got stabbed in the jugular-and blinked temporarily out of existence. When he woke, the lens in which he viewed the world had shifted.
He left the comfort of his corporate job behind in pursuit of honing his artistry. He won 1st Place, Best in Show, at the Ypsi 24-Hour Film Shootout for his retro 80s horror film Cycle of the Blessed (2017). He starred and Associate Produced his first full-length feature film, Kid Brother (2017) for which he won the The Eclipse Award for Best Feature and Best Supporting Actor. He directed his first collaboration with producing partner Tonya Hawkins, a short film titled; Midnight Light (2017). Peter took home Best Director. The film also won Best Acting, Audience Favorite and Best In Genre at the Detroit 48 hr Film Project.
Throughout 2018 Peter continued to build. He directed Weve Got Your Back, a commercial starring D.L. Hughley, was cinematographer on the upcoming short film Bliss Burger (2019) and the documentary Hear Our Voice (2019). He produced the Kevin Gates music video Discussion and the Flint Eastwood music videos Running and Sober. He ran production coordination on the Kanye West music video Tekken, was 1st Assistant Director for a variety of commercial clients including Pure Michigan, United Way and Owens Corning.
In the narrative realm, he wrote the short film Lost Possessions (2018) and starred in the upcoming shorts film Revenge of the Mask (2018) and Rise of the Mask (2018), a re-imagination of the popu- lar 90s film. Building blocks all towards a singular goal; feature length narrative film. He looks forward to beginning production on his directorial debut, slated for release 2020. Additionally, he founded his own production company, Avenoir Road, that creates unique visual content for Metro Detroit. Peters range and process are driven by his commitment to his community and beloved craft.
