Tommy DeJosia is an independent screenwriter, film director, cinematographer, film/video editor and producer from Long Island, New York. Early on, he developed his passion for cinema and filmmaking.
When Tommy was in his early teens, he watched his older brother use their parent's camcorder to make skateboard videos with close friends. By the time Tommy was a senior in high school, his parents bought him his own camcorder. He followed in the same footsteps, making his own skateboard videos and documentary style short films. This was in the early 2000's. This is when Tommy began taking filmmaking seriously.
Shortly after, Tommy began writing screenplays. He had the itch to write. He completed his first feature script during the black out of 2003. This gave him a confidence boost as a screenwriter.
In 2006, Tommy went on to study Screenwriting for Film and Television at The New York Film Academy. He was accepted into the one year certification program. This time period gave him the opportunity to explore himself as a screenwriter. He developed two feature scripts, an animation pilot, and helped produce student short films.
After graduating from The New York Film Academy, Tommy was accepted into the Riggio Honors: Writing and Democracy program at The New School where he received a partial scholarship. At The New School he studied poetry, fiction, and literature. This further developed his understanding of the storytelling process. He graduated with a B.A. in Liberal Arts.
For nearly 20 years Tommy developed skills in all facets of the filmmaking and video production process.
