Somehow, someway, it's time for another series of Strictly Come Dancing. The BBC's flagship entertainment show has returned to screens this month for a very special series, as this one marks its 20th anniversary. Yes, we've been watching some of our favorite Foxtrots, wonderful Waltzes, and sizzling Salsas for two decades now, and we get to do it all again with this year's crop of contestants.
Can it live up to the excitement of last year's excellent series? Quite possibly! Over the course of the past two weeks, we have met the class of 2024, finding out who they were going to be partnered with on the opening show and watching them all deliver their first dance routines last week. On that night, it was Jls' Jb and Amy, Tasha and Aljaž, and Sarah and Vito who impressed the most with three epic routines that had the judges raving about their technique and performance value.

Helen Skelton hinted at her marriage split during the latest episode of Strictly Come Dancing.
During the broadcast, which occurred on Friday (2 December) instead of its usual slot on a Saturday, the Countryfile presenter explained why she said yes to the BBC dancing competition.
“I did Strictly this year because sometimes you just need to jump on the opportunity and chance to put a big smile on your face,” she said.
Skelton signed up to the show months after revealing that her ex Richie Myler had “left the family home” just four months after they welcomed their third child.
“Very sad to say that Richie and I are no longer a couple,” she wrote on Instagram in April. “He has left the family home. We will be doing our best to co-parent our small children.”
Skelton, who married Myler in 2013, accompanied the post with two broken heart emojis.

Skelton’s involvement came after she revealed in April that her ex Richie Myler had “left the family home” just four months after they welcomed their third child.
“Very sad to say that Richie and I are no longer a couple,” she wrote on Instagram. “He has left the family home. We will be doing our best to co-parent our small children.”
Skelton, who married Myler in 2013, accompanied the post with two broken heart emojis.
The TV presenter has now revealed she was initially not convinced Strictly would be a good idea for her – that was until her best friend intervened.

Strictly Come Dancing is set to pay tribute to the BBC’s 100 years this weekend.
The main show on Saturday (22 October) will see each couple dance to a theme tune to a BBC show, or a song heavily featured on the broadcast network.
This will mark the first time that Strictly has based its entire week’s theme on the corporation.
The episode will begin with a group number that will show the Strictly professionals and judges gate crash some of the BBC’s best-known shows.
With several of this year’s celebrity contenders being stars of BBC shows, this week’s theme will feature some of them dancing to the songs that have been a large part of their careers.

Every year, Strictly Come Dancing brings its yearly spook-fest back to the dance floor.
By now, we’ve seen hundreds of dancers take part in the themed competition week, hoping to impress the judges with routines that are less trick, more treat.
For fans, Halloween is one of the biggest nights in the Strictly calendar. Design-wise, it doesn’t get more extra than this, with the perfect performance featuring a spooky costume and song choice that are well linked together. However, it’s not always easy and we often see a slightly spooky song title pushed together with a random costume that doesn’t exactly make sense or scream Halloween. After all, there are only so many times the show can do the “Monster Mash”.
The best Halloween dances bring all these elements together, from design, to music, to (naturally) the actual dancing. Among this top 10 we have a lot of tangos,...

Every year, Strictly Come Dancing returns to glitz up our Saturday nights... and every year, fans are treated to another movie special.
First introduced in 2014, Strictly’s Movie Week sees the contestants perform a selection of dances inspired by the biggest Hollywood blockbusters, with comedy, action and kids films all being given the Strictly treatment over the years.
But what makes for a really good Movie Week performance? Looking the part is obviously key, and you can always expect this theme to bring out some of the best hair, make-up and costumes that Strictly has to offer.
Ultimately, however, it’s the dancing being marked, with the best performances managing to show off the celebrity’s skill – something they often haven’t quite found yet, with Movie Week usually coming around the third week in the competition – while also featuring choreography that captures the essence of the films they’re paying tribute to.

Strictly Come Dancing is back on our screens, with a new batch of contestants learning the art of ballroom dancing for the first time.
The BBC competition series returned on Saturday (24 September), with 15 celebrities hitting the dance floor with their pro partners for the first time.
It was a night of varying dance abilities, with Will Mellor and Hamza Yassin sharing the top spot on the leaderboard with an impressive 34 out of 40 marks each.
Tony Adams, meanwhile, is currently at the bottom end with just 15 poionts for his Arsenal-themed tango.
However, everything could still change during Saturday (1 October) night’s show, as the scores from last week will be added to the marks gained by the contestants for their second dances.
The new leaderboard will then be combined with the public votes, with the bottom two couples facing the dreaded dance off and the first couple leaving the competition.

Every year, Strictly Come Dancing fans meet a whole new roster of contestants, but they also look forward to the return of their favourite professional dancers.
While the pros have a strong fanbase of their own, we only see a fraction of the work that stars from Gorka Marquez to Oti Mabuse do on the show.
Behind the scenes, they take part in a gruelling training schedule with their partners, which can take up to 14 hours a day, and also choreograph the routines themselves.
While the BBC has never confirmed each professional dancer’s salary, it has been widely reported that each one is paid a flat fee of between £35,000 to £50,000 to appear on the show.
However, each dancer gets several opportunities to top this up, on the Strictly Come Dancing: The Professionals tour as well as in stage shows, musicals and theatre productions.

Actress Gemma Atkinson, who is expecting her first child with boyfriend Gorka Marquez, says she feels like a superwoman. Gemma on Wednesday took to Instagram and posted before and after photographs of her fitness journey since becoming pregnant, reports standard.co.uk. Along with the images, she wrote: "Our bodies are incredible! What they are capable of doing astounds me, and in both these pictures I felt/feel like superwoman."
The first photograph showed a lean Atkinson, while in the second one, she was seen flaunting her baby bump.
"I have a life inside of me ticking away ready to join us soon. The little kicks and turns and flutters are just wonderful. I feel so incredibly lucky, added the former "Emmerdale" actress.
