Marat Berenstein leads Strategic Partnerships & Industry Relations at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, where he was on faculty from 2011 to 2018, and was nominated for the David Payne-Carter Award for Teaching Excellence.
Marat enjoys more than 15 years of success in building partnerships, managing artists, developing original content, and producing global events. He pioneered the masterclass concept and built unique education-based experiences by partnering with artists like Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Pharrell Williams, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, Jon Batiste, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Kesha, Macklemore, Chloe and Halle Bailey.
Marat was instrumental in NYU honoring Pharrell Williams with a Doctorate of Fine Arts in 2017. He produced Pharrell's artist residency for the 50th Anniversary of the Tisch School of the Arts, and created the online masterclass that went viral and launched the career of 2020 Best New Artist Grammy nominee, Maggie Rogers.
In 2022, Marat played a leadership role in producing XP Music Futures, an annual 3-day conference based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, that provided unprecedented access to music education in the region.
Marat was born in Odesa, Ukraine. His family immigrated to the US when he was 7 years old. He graduated from Columbia University and lives in New York City.
