- Representation in the entertainment industry really matters, and I'm super honored, honestly (to be the first Latina Supergirl). There was a moment when we were shooting, when Andy was like, "Hey, come over here and watch this scene on the playback monitor." And I go over and I see her (Supergirl), and she's in her full glory. And suddenly, I got really emotional. Because I'm looking at that, and I'm like, "Wow, I wish I would have had this when I was little." It meant a lot to me. I turned into child Sasha watching this person (on the screen). So it's really important. And I'm really happy and really thankful to DC and Warner Brothers for doing this now. It's so cool that we're doing this, and, ya know, it's about time.
- [on being the first Latina actress playing Supergirl] It's an honor, an absolute joy. I'm still pinching myself every day. My biggest hope is that my community knows that we belong on the big screen. Our stories are not limited; they are unlimited. We are powerful superheroes also on big screens globally.
- I always knew I wanted to be a performer. I've been singing and writing music since I was a kid. That's how it started. Eventually, I got a performing arts degree, which is singing, acting, and dancing. That's where I started to really fall in love with acting on camera.
- [on what makes her iteration of Supergirl different from previous portrayal] Her androgyny, I would say. The suit is so beautiful and it's a beautiful mix of femininity and masculinity. It's kind of androgynous, and it's mobile. It works as if you were to wear a suit that would protect you and allow you to move. I love it. It was really cool to see how it looks on camera as well.
- I remember watching Wonder Woman (2017) and feeling like I could do anything, and here I am now.
- I really want to make projects that feel very authentic to me with people that I feel connected with and appreciated by. I want to work in an environment filled with love and important storytelling.
- Our culture is incredibly beautiful and we are so much more than just one specific thing that maybe people try to box us in, but we're so beautiful and diverse.
- My mom is one of the strongest people I know. She inspires me every single day. All I want to do is make her proud.
- I didn't really have places that I could excel artistically because I didn't grow up very financially stable. Especially having an immigrant mother, a single mother as well, the challenges for her were beyond. I love and commend her. She's my superhero for paving the way for me.
- As an artist and as a kid, I felt out of place in my life. I felt different. I had dreams that felt impossible to everyone around me.
- Music is a way for me to express my emotions and understand them without anybody judging them. I started writing about my life and it feels like a vessel for my voice and my emotions.
- [to Milly Alcock on her casting as Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (2026) ] Oh my God! Have so much fun! You look so badass! I love that. F******* kill it, yeah. Have fun.
- [on The Flash (2023) and no longer portraying Supergirl] It was very hard, I have to say. I had bittersweet feelings as I was maneuvering everything. I was very excited, but there were a lot of unanswered questions for me, so it was very bittersweet. [...] It's been said that a queer Latina girl like me couldn't be Supergirl. But I was, and no one can take that away from me. That is the most important thing for me; I did something that mattered. And whether you saw yourself represented in me or not, a lot of people really connected with her and loved her.
- [on finding support in Leslie Grace after losing the role of Supergirl in film] I don't know what I would've done without Leslie, [...] I feel like she got it even worse [the canceled Batgirl production], and yet, she was just this divine light of love and warmth. And even though it came from a really confusing and painful situation, we got to have this beautiful friendship that is true and honest and sincere and kind. We were there for each other, and I am really happy that we had each other then.
