Gursimran is a dynamic filmmaker and producer based in Canada. He runs a production company, BetterHalf Films. Gursimran's dedication to his craft is evident through his diverse body of work. His films have been recognized and screened at various film festivals, including the International Film Festival of South Asia, Toronto, Canada (2022), Emerging Lens Cultural Film Festival (2023) and Nuit Blanche, Toronto (2023). Gursimran has recently been selected as one of the participants in the BANFF-NETFLIX DOV program for 2025.
A postgraduate in advanced filmmaking and arts administration, Gursimran honed his skills at the National Screen Institute's EAVE Producers Program and has been spotlighted as one of Toronto's top 52 artists by the ArtWorxTO. His commitment to his craft led him to the Ontario Creates Futures program, where he further developed his series. Gursimran has also participated in the Reykjavik Film Festival's Talent Lab in October 2024.
Currently, BetterHalf Films is gearing up for the production of "Masala Love," a comedy series that revolves around a South Asian restaurant in Toronto's Little India. The series was recently selected for the Export Training Asia Pacific (ETAP) program in Vancouver, Canada.
Gursimran is also advancing the development of his feature script, "We Must Now Depart," which was recently workshopped at the Whistler Film Festival's Producer's Lab. Through these and other projects, BetterHalf Films continues to push creative boundaries, leaving a lasting impact on the screen industry-one story at a time.
