Laura de Sommar is a multi-talented and award-winning filmmaker with a diverse background in acting, business, and film production. With a Bachelor's degree in Acting from Mountview Drama School and studies at Wharton and UCLA, she brings a unique blend of creativity and business acumen to her projects. She's written, produced, and starred in three short films, and acted in many more in the US, UK, and Peru. Her projects focus on diversity in front and behind the camera (mainly female leads, Latinx culture, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergence). She's developing a mental health/Latinx dramedy TV series and working on post-production/VFX for her latest short. Laura founded the "Latinx @ NFTS" club to bring together critically acclaimed Latinx filmmakers and NFTS students to create a supportive network. Moreover, she makes time to mentor actors who are producing projects and is organising talks for young Latinx women who aim to work in the industry. Her dedication to making a positive impact extends beyond the screen, she's fundraising to support academic and soft-skills education in rural Peru, as well as the preservation of ancient temples.
