Leonel Chee

Leonel Chee is a Chinese-Mexican award-winning, non-binary, director and screenwriter from Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, México. Their short films, Amparo's Offerings and Imelda and Luis, premiered at the Vancouver International Film Festival, won awards, and screened at numerous film festivals around the world. Imelda and Luis won Best Foreign Short at the Atlanta Shortsfest and Best Film at UCLAxFilmFest. Lead characters in Leonel's films are mainly women, trans, and non-binary. They are now developing their debut feature which script was official selection at the 2022 Habana Film Festival. They earned a master's degree in Screenwriting from Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, Spain.
