San Francisco, Oct 16 (Ians) Meta (formerly Facebook) is reportedly struggling to gain and keep users on its social virtual reality (VR) platform called Horizon Worlds – its biggest bet to fulfil its 10 billion metaverse dream.
According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, nearly a year after Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced his metaverse project, internal documents reveal that the company is grappling with “glitchy technology, uninterested users and a lack of clarity about what it will take to succeed.”
Horizon Worlds currently has less than 200,000 monthly active users, down from the 300,000-user mark milestone Meta confirmed in February.
Meta initially set a goal of reaching 500,000 monthly active users for Horizon Worlds by the end of this year.
The company has now revised its goal to reach around 280,000 monthly active Horizon Worlds users by 2022 end.
While Meta said that it had around 10,000 separate virtual worlds (as of February...

New Delhi, Oct 9 (Ians) Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is set to announce the company’s progress towards building the 10 billion metaverse, as internal reports claim there are still several quality issues and those building the virtual reality (VR) social network at the company are barely using it.
The company will organised ‘Meta Connect’ virtual conference on October 11 for developers, creators, tech enthusiasts and others.
Zuckerberg will share share updates on the VR developer ecosystem, the progress building toward the metaverse, and ‘Project Cambria’, a new high-end VR headset with mixed reality.

San Francisco, Oct 8 (Ians) Meta has allowed the users of its social metaverse app Horizon Worlds to report bugs on the platform with ease.
Currently, it is too hard to report bugs out of the headset as users need to attach screenshots or videos to their bug reports.
“We’re rolling out a way to simply press and hold down the A, B, X, and Y buttons for five seconds and a new in-app bug reporting experience will pop up,” Meta said in a blog post.
The Horizon Worlds users can now use buttons on their controllers to bring up the “report a problem” window.
The company has issued 14 bug fixes ranging from improvements to lighting and sound, ‘grabbables’ and the updated camera feature.
Horizon Worlds is a social VR experience where you can discover new places with friends, build unique worlds of your own, and form teams to compete in action-packed games.

San Francisco, Oct 7 (Ians) The flagship metaverse product of Meta (formerly Facebook) is reportedly inundated with several quality issues and even those building the virtual reality (VR) social network at the company are barely using it.
According to a report in The Verge citing internal memos, Meta’s VR social network called ‘Horizon Worlds’ holds little promise in its current avatar.
Vishal Shah, Meta’s VP of Metaverse, apparently told the employees that the metaverse team would remain in a “quality lockdown” for the rest of the year to “ensure that we fix our quality gaps and performance issues before we open up Horizon to more users”.
“Simply put, for an experience to become delightful and retentive, it must first be usable and well crafted,” he wrote.
In August, Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg was forced to post new screenshots on Facebook and Instagram, showing off a more life-like version of himself,...
