Classically trained and experienced in many different styles of music, composer Derek Zeoli brings a fresh approach and an eclectic musical background to all his projects. He has scored over 50 projects, including feature films, short films, ads, animations, albums, musicals, and arranged or edited music for musicals and colorguard shows. He has worked for many different directors on different short film projects, has been hired by such clients as NGO Re:Coded and by Weill Cornell Medicine to write music for their media. Derek has also worked for celebrated Hollywood film composer Harry Gregson-Williams and recently interned at Hans Zimmer's studio, Remote Control Productions.
In addition to his media scoring career, Derek has written the music to two musicals which were premiered in New York, and has had several world premieres of his concert music in both New York and LA. He enjoys writing electronic and pop music as well, and has released albums and compilations of his concert, electronic, and pop music online.
Derek has a BM in Music Theory and Composition with a focus in Screen Scoring from New York University, as well as having studied abroad for a semester in Paris under the tutelage of Michel Merlet, Messiaen's former student, at the prestigious École Normale de musique d'Alfred Cortot. He also was part of an intensive study computer music, electronic music, and spatialization at the world class audio facility in Paris, Ircam.
