Japanese satellite television station Wowow announced today that a live-action drama adaptation of Ryo Nakama's Shonen Jump comedy manga Isobe Isobee Monogatari: Ukiyo wa Tsurai yo is now in the works, scheduled to premiere in the summer 2024. The drama is scheduled to air for ten episodes. Yosuke Sugino, who recently also played the Seishu Handa in the live-action drama adaptation of Satsuki Yoshino's Barakamon manga, is set to star as the title character, Isobe Isobee. "I feel we have created a rather strange work," said Sugino. "The worldview of the original manga, the location of Kyoto, the director and staff, and the personalities of the cast members came together in a good way. Please watch it!"
