Andrea Carranza(I)
- Actress
Andrea Carranza (born April 28, 1986) is an American actress based in Austin, Texas. She is best known for her work in the semi-scripted comedy sketch troupe, Squish Mitten. Their award-winning video sketches have earned them the opportunity to perform live in both the San Francisco and Austin Sketch Fests.
Andrea got her first role in a documentary film at the age of 17 while working as a Dorothy tour guide in her hometown's Wizard of Oz museum. A filmmaker from Canada had read about the museum and created a documentary about the girls who worked as Dorothy, comparing their modern lives to how the fictional Dorothy Gale would have lived in the 1920's. Andrea was so interested in the process of filming Being Dorothy (2004) that she asked to shadow the cinematographer and later considered schools for film production. She later decided to be in front of the lens as an actor and trained with Julliard alum Mona Lee Fultz as well as studied comedy and improvisation at ColdTowne Theater.
Andrea was born and raised in Liberal, Kansas to parents Manuel and Teresa Carranza (nèe Dillon) and is of Peruvian, Spanish, and Italian descent.
