Tyler Perry is back with another thrilling drama that’s centered on two women whose polar opposite lives collide into an explosive journey that reveals the dark secrets of a wealthy family.

The 16-episode series premieres on Thursday and is the latest project that’s come from Perry’s creative, multi-year deal with Netflix. The show is written, produced and directed by Perry. “Beauty in Black” will be a two-part series, and the first part is available to stream now.

“I was told many times over many years that Black entertainment doesn’t travel throughout the world,” Perry told Netflix’s Tudum. “So, to have Netflix continue to disprove that over and over with everything I’ve put on the platform has been phenomenal.”

Tyler Perry's latest Netflix original has officially started streaming! His first series with the streamer, the soapy drama series Beauty in Black, made its premiere on Oct. 24 with the first eight-episode part of its 16-episode first season.

In the series, Taylor Pollidore Williams plays Kimmie, a woman working to make ends meet while getting swept up in a dangerous situation. Meanwhile, Crystle Stewart plays Mallory, who doesn't worry about having to make ends meet but still gets swept up into this situation as the women's lives intersect.

A new Tyler Perry series is coming to Netflix and we've just learned the release date! Snowfall's Taylor Polidore Williams and Acrimony alum Crystle Stewart will lead the show, titled Beauty in Black, for Netflix, which will be released in two parts beginning on Oct. 24.

Beauty in Black is the latest acquisition under Perry's multi-year first-look deal with Netflix, where the filmmaker is expected to write, direct, and produce feature films and series for the streamer. His most recent Netflix release was the thriller film Mea Culpa.

Netflix revealed the Oct. 24 release date for Beauty in Black, and the all-new series will be an hour-long drama written, directed, and produced by Perry. The first season will have 16 episodes, which is a rarity when it comes to Netflix shows, most of which usually only have eight to 10 episodes for their debut seasons.

Part one of “Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black” will debut on Netflix on Thursday, Oct. 24. The series, which stars Taylor Polidore Williams, Crystle Stewart and Amber Reign Smith among others, follows two women whose lives become entangled despite their significant differences. This marks Perry’s first original series created for the streamer.
