Maurita Salkey is a former actress, writer, content creator, and on-air talent. Born and raised in the Bronx, Maurita Salkey has over 6 years of media experience. After interning at Showtime Networks, ABC News, Fox News and iHeartMedia in college. Maurita moved back to her hometown of NYC after interning in Los Angeles right after college at ABC News. Maurita was born a hustler. She always loved dancing, making people laugh and portraying different characters, which hinted her passion for acting. After returning to the city, and not being able to land any entertainment reporter gigs, Maurita decided to create an opportunity for herself when there was none- launch her own blog called Info Overload.
Maurita teamed up with Shanice Parker of Billz Productions and started to research events in the city to cover. Maurita started covering local hip hop shows, album release parties, and fashion events.
Maurita has gone on to interview celebrities such as Ja Rule, Rick Ross, Yandy Smith, Master P, Romeo Miller, Young Jeezy, Erica Mena, Lil Kim, Remy Ma, Fat Joe, Dave East, Raekwon, Cardi B, Young Dolph, PHresher, Sanaa Lathan, Teyana Taylor, Megan Good and Issa Rae. Maurita has worked production for award shows such as the BET Honors and BET Hip Hop Awards and has contributed to sites such as Revolt TV and Hot 97.
After a short stint with CBS News radio, Maurita took a leap of faith and moved to Los Angeles. While in LA, Maurita worked with The Shade Room, Lionsgate Entertainment and in casting for the hit show on Fox Beat Shazam. Maurita also dipped back into her passion for acting and booked a series of gigs in feature films and web series. After living in LA for a year, Maurita got the opportunity to work back in NYC at VH1 and MTV in Current Series and Development and be apart of a production team for shows such as Love and Hip Hop, Black Ink Crew and pitch new development ideas.
Now as an educator, Maurita's sole purpose is now educating future generations on being the best version of themselves. Maurita's passion is inspiring the youth to tap into their full potential to make a difference in this world.
