Gurmeet Brar is an award winning acamedician, writer, director and producer in Indian film industry .He was born and brought up in Indian province of Punjab. An alumni of National Council of Educational Research and Training(NCERT) New Delhi and Alliance Francaise de Chandigarh, Gurmeet Brar is a prolific writer and recipient of Jewel of India Award and has been conferred Gurmukh Singh Musafir Award , the highest literary award of Govt. of Punjab for his contribution to the art . He is a polyglot having knowledge of English,French,Urdu,Hindi , Punjabi and basic German. Prior to turning as a film maker he has authored three literary books which were well received by the readers. He has been an ad film maker since a decade. He has completed some commercial film making contracts with the state governments and has produced and directed some music videos also.His directorial debut Hijrat(2018) has been critically acclaimed across the globe . Hijrat(2018) has brought laurels in almost two dozen international film festivals in India, United Kingdom,Canada,Norway and Ireland .The film has been awarded Special Jury Award in ISFF London, debut director's Golden Fox Trophy in CICFF Calcutta, best director and best film award in IFFSG film festival and best director award in Rajasthan International Film Festival(RIFF) and Best actor award at International Film Festival at Ottawa(Canada) . His next two projects one Anglo-Hindi and another Indo-French, are at pre production stage.
