Alexandra Tomilina graduated from the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in 2012. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
Before starting her career in film, she directed two successful immersive theatre shows in Moscow: "World War II" (2017) set in an artificial town and "The Passengers" (2019) set in a library which was transformed into a 'long distance train'.
She also produced multiple award winning short films - "Yes,Darling! (2021), "Like.Share.Repost." (2019), as well as a VR project called "Other People's Trouble" (2017).
"The Old Bench in New York" (2024) shot in NYC's Central Park is her directorial debut in film. ("I grew up with this saying, 'We'll have a rest, we'll see diamonds in the sky... after we die'. And then I faced a possible death sentence - cancer diagnosis.... And my life was forever changed. My second life started when I realized I only had one. The characters in this film reach this conclusion too late, thus only a hologram remains to live out the best days on their behalf").
