If it wasn’t for William Hurt’s Thaddeus Ross making his return in Captain America: Civil War, then there would be absolutely nothing that connects The Incredible Hulk to the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since then, the 70 year-old has gone on to show up for cameos in the Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame double header, but he’ll get his most substantial supporting role in over a decade when Black Widow finally hits theaters next May.
Ross’ part in the prequel is still being kept under wraps, but a new theory claims that he could be revealed as a Hydra sleeper agent, which would mark a huge development in McU canon given that he was the United States Secretary of State when audiences were reintroduced to the character in Civil War.

Leaps of logic and faith are required when it comes to any major comic book franchise, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe will still need to come up with a reasonable explanation as to why the X-Men have appeared on the scene when the eventual reboot rolls around. After all, there’s been no mention of the word mutant for the last dozen years, and it’ll take an awful lot of exposition to establish them in a mythology that’s existed for so long with its own set of narrative rules and regulations.
Of course, the reason why the McU’s Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver were never referred to as mutants is because Marvel Studios weren’t legally allowed to do it, but now that Disney has purchased Fox, the game has officially changed. There’ve been rumors that WandaVision could incorporate the genome for the first time, but a...

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is taking a bow tonight, and it's doing it on its own terms. Back when the series started in 2013, Iron Man 3 had just been released, and Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier were both on deck. Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) had just been killed a year earlier in The Avengers, so it was a pretty big deal that he was now returning to lead a whole show focused on S.H.I.E.L.D., the ever-changing organization at the center of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series arrived at the height of Avengers popularity, and dealt with what became a turning point for the McU: S.H.I.E.L.D. had been infiltrated by the evil Hydra, and the organization that built and...

To quote Kora: “You must realize it by now,” Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. viewers. Given all of the time travel (and the making of “waves” vs. “ripples”) during this final season, the timeline in which Coulson & Co. shared even the slightest continuity with the big-screen McU “is long gone.” But that split, says at least two Og cast members, is a good thing.

The seventh and final season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has seen the now-lmd Phil Coulson and the team traveling back through S.H.I.E.L.D. history in order to prevent the alien Chronicoms from altering history for their own ends. In yesterday’s episode 5, however, one major change was made to the McU timeline that, at present, is still in effect.
The episode, titled “A Trout in the Milk,” sees the gang arrive in 1973 where they discover that Hydra is busy working on Project Insight, an orbital satellite set to track down all potential threats to the organization so they can neutralize them beforehand. If this sounds familiar, that’s because this was their scheme from 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Due to the Chronicoms’ meddling with time though, the project has been brought forward by about 40 years.
At first glance, this could still fit into the established timeline.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 just keeps on getting better and better, doesn't it?
The majority of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode 5 felt like the climax of an action film, keeping you on the edge of your seat until the very last minute and leaving you craving more.
Tensions rose to an extreme as Sousa was still reeling from being taken out of his time, and the agents were confronted with an old problem that came forty years too early.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is one of the most critically acclaimed movies of the McU, and it is partly responsible for elevating Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. from a semi-interesting show to an outstanding corner of television that only got better with time.
In the film, Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, and others discovered that S.H.I.E.L.D. had been infiltrated by Hydra, which, in turn, affected Agents of S.

It wouldn’t be a visit to the 70s if Agents of Shield didn’t include General Rick Stoner, who we last saw as a gloriously mustached holographic projection in season five when the team visited the Lighthouse for the first time. Back then he was known for Project Reclamation, a defunct contingency plan to shelter the leadership elite in the event of a global catastrophe. When Coulson and the others returned from the ruined future, they took up residence in the Lighthouse and were bombarded with explanatory messages from the former Shield director, but in an exclusive clip from the coming episode, we see Stoner has other concerns.
The preview features Agent May possibly using her newfound empathic emotions to tempt Stoner into giving her information about the timeline of a completely different project. Patrick Warburton, as always, delivers a perfect deadpan performance as General Stoner, who apparently has...

Disney Plus’ The Falcon and the Winter Soldier TV series is set to see Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson take on the mantle of Captain America, but it seems the situation will be flipped in the comics. Marvel’s Falcon & Winter Soldier title, created to loosely tie into the upcoming McU show, will continue later this year. And the newly released cover for issue #3 reveals that James Buchanan Barnes will be suiting up again as the Sentinel of Liberty.
Dan Mora’s cover for Derek Landy and Federico Vincentini’s comic (seen below) sees Sam and Bucky getting the jump on mentor Steve Rogers from behind. It’s a shocking tableau, but it’s hard to say whether this set-up is to be taken literally or not.
What the synopsis tells us is that the original Cap will have a strong presence in the issue, as the partners in crime-fighting...

You could argue that a character like Deadpool doesn’t exactly need a comedy sidekick, given that a lot of the Merc with a Mouth’s appeal comes from his unique brand of self-aware and irreverent humor. However, the Marvel Cinematic Universe boasts more than a few supporting players that exist solely for laughs, and while the R-rated antihero is an entirely different proposition for the studio, it seems inevitable that the in-development third installment is set to adhere to the in-house formula in at least a few ways.
In Fox’s two movies, that role was largely played by T.J. Miller’s Weasel, although Rob Delaney’s Peter undoubtedly stole every one of his scenes in Deadpool 2. However, given the string of controversies that have dogged Miller in recent years, there’s no chance that the actor is going to be extended an invitation to return now that...

Seven years after his apparent death in Captain America: The First Avenger, Red Skull made a surprise return in Avengers: Infinity War and then again in Avengers: Endgame. In these pair of cameos, we learned that the former Hydra leader had been enslaved into guarding over the Soul Stone on Vormir. However, with the gem claimed by Thanos/Hawkeye, Johann Schmidt has now been released from his servitude and is free to roam the Marvel universe.
So, will we see him again in the McU? Actor Ross Marquand, who took over the role from Hugo Weaving, certainly hopes so. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is back one last time next month for its seventh and final season. A big reason for the show’s longevity is its ability to shake up its status quo every year, and sure enough, season 7 will do just that by seeing the resurrected Phil Coulson and his team traveling into the past in order to avert a dark future.
Earlier this month, we got our first teaser for the run in the form of a short clip that revealed Coulson being reborn as a sophisticated Lmd. Now, this new mini-trailer hints at the crew’s new mission: to journey back to the first half of the 20th century in order to ensure S.H.I.E.L.D. is created. However, the promo also reveals a huge hitch in this plan.

The Time Heist of Avengers: Endgame is undoubtedly one of the most impressive and spellbinding moments of the entire McU.
It enabled Joe and Anthony Russo to crank the fan service up to 11, rolling out scenes so heartfelt (Tony meeting his father) and entertaining (Nebula and Rhodey spying on the oblivious Star-Lord) that viewers were left rooted to the edge of their seats.
There is one moment, in particular, that practically brought Marvel fans to their feet, though. Yes, it’s the one in which Captain America goes toe-to-toe with his younger self. It’s an incredible feat of choreography, as future Cap exits the elevator with the Tesseract (“hail Hydra”), only to be confronted by a fresh-faced Steve. Oh, the joys of time travel.
Turns out Avengers: Endgame‘s Cap vs. Cap brawl was hiding a touching detail, too. Allow us to explain.

While Marvel tends to plan future movies to excruciating detail, there’s always a sense of creative freedom for directors and writers who come in to helm these projects, which allows them to tell their own stories. Namely, The Winter Soldier is a prime example of this, with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely taking bold steps to renovate the narrative and bring change to the McU. And yet, fans have found another inadvertent detail in the first Avengers film which might hint at Hydra’s S.H.I.E.L.D. infiltration.
This new theory, which is going viral on Reddit, suggests that the Security Council’s decision to nuke New York, a strange and controversial action in and of itself even as a desperate measure, was orchestrated by Alexander Pierce and other secret Hydra leaders. Think about it; the detonation would almost certainly kill Iron Man, Hawkeye, Black Widow and Captain America. That’s basically 4 out of the 6 Avengers,...

Stories about aquatic terrors are certainly nothing new, dating back to the ancient Greek legend of the Hydra. Authors like H.P. Lovecraft, Jules Verne, and Herman Melville became famous for writing such tales about underwater monsters. In films, there have been tons about undersea creatures terrorizing people, most famously being Spielberg’s 1975 classic, Jaws. However, after the release of 1979’s Alien, people were more focused on outer space terrors than those from the depths. Around the late 1980s, there was a string of underwater creature films released, including The Abyss, Leviathan, and Deepstar Six. Most recently, we had the surprisingly effective deep-sea thriller, Underwater, and now we have another one straight from Ireland. This time, it’s from writer-director Neasa Hardiman, who previously directed TV shows like Happy Valley, The Inhumans, and Jessica Jones.

As it’s a prequel, we know a few things about how Black Widow has to go. One of them is that we know Natasha Romanoff returns to her Avengers family after the events of the movie, so her reunion with her old Russian family has to be short-lived. In the trailers, though, Nat seems as thick as thieves – well, assassins – with Yelena (Florence Pugh), Melina (Rachel Weisz) and Alexei (David Harbour). So what happens?
Well, fans are theorizing that it’ll turn out that either Yelena or Melina, or maybe both, can’t be trusted. This is a spy movie, after all, so it’s the law that there has to be some kind double-cross or mole in the ranks. A new piece evidence supports this theory, too, with a secret hint at Hydra potentially appearing on the character posters for both Pugh and Weisz.

The McU has always treated fans to unexpected crossovers, with characters from one sub-franchise of the Marvel universe frequently popping up in another sub-franchise. There are many memorable examples from across the past decade, too. Bruce Banner in Iron Man 3, Doctor Strange in Thor: Ragnarok, the Punisher in Captain America: The Winter Soldier… Wait, what?
It’s true. Well, kind of. Mackie starts things off by saying, “give a gift instead of receiving one,” which is kind of weird considering Steve Rogers gave Sam Wilson the shield at the end of Avengers: Endgame. He’s probably referring to a box of chocolates or something.
Stan then chimes in with “be yourself always and forever,” which again comes off as strange considering that Bucky Barnes has had a heck of a time...
