In an Instagram post showing off her Balmain looks for the night, the Scarlet musician admitted she was nervous, but that she stood by her “brave” rendition: “I never get to sing like that and what I did was brave and scary as f— for me,” she said in part. “I know a lot of people didn’t like it but a lot of people did and I feel good that I pushed myself. The song is a classic and I put a lot of work into it but the nerves got to me and a bitch hit some flats.

Doja Cat is sticking up for herself.

On Sunday night (March 2), the 29-year-old Grammy-winning rapper performed “Diamonds Are Forever” during the James Bond tribute at the 2025 Academy Awards.

The day after the big event, Doja took to Instagram to respond to backlash over her performance.

Some 3.5 hours later — well after Conan did a musical number about his promise not to waste time, after a half-dozen winners made speeches that the orchestra cut off almost before they began — Adrien Brody took the stage for his second best actor win, announcing that the theme of his speech would be everything he learned in the 20 years since his first win for The Pianist. He proceeded to babble without interruption or apparent purpose for several minutes, finally started to get played off, instructed the orchestra that he wasn’t leaving, and rambled for several more minutes — and The Director Of The Telecast Never Once Cut To John Lithgow Being Disappointed. Maybe the director forgot. Maybe John Lithgow forgot.

Qualley danced alongside a handful of male dancers in tuxes while she donned a red gown, but why was she on stage during the tribute?

While Qualley might be known for her performances in “The Substance” alongside Demi Moore, as well as “Maid,” “Kinds of Kindness,” “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood” and “Poor Things,” she was a trained dance before pivoting into the world of acting.

Qualley, who is the daughter of Andie MacDowell and Paul J. Qualley, grew up dancing, and eventually studied dance at the North Carolina School of the Arts, where she trained as a ballet dancer. The medley of Bond themes began with Margaret Qualley dancing to the Bond theme, as Lisa came down from the ceiling to sing Wings’ “Live and Let Live.”

The track was used as the theme from the 1973 film of the same name.

Lisa sang as women in red danced with men in tuxedos, as she eventually passed the stage over to her “Born Again” collaborators Doja Cat and Raye to finish off the tribute.

Sunday’s 97th annual Academy Awards ceremony featured a tribute to James Bond and the franchise’s long-running history of legendary and Oscar-nominated and -winning theme songs, including winner “Skyfall” (which was performed and cowritten by Adele)

The Bond franchise has received six Oscar nominations for its many indelible songs, including “Live and Let Die” from 1973’s Live and Let Die (performed by Wings and cowritten by Paul and Linda McCartney), “Nobody Does It Better” from 1977’s The Spy Who Loved Me (performed and written by Carly Simon), and “For Your Eyes Only” from 1981’s For Your Eyes Only (performed by Sheena Easton and written by Bill Conti and Mick Leeson). Oscar viewers were caught off guard by the James Bond musical tribute featuring Blackpink’s Lisa, Doja Cat, and Raye during the 2025 ceremony. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo kicked off the 2025 Oscars with a performance of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”

The Wicked stars took turns taking the Academy Awards stage after a montage of clips from various Oscar-nominated films were shown, with Grande starting the performance by singing the classic song in homage to Wizard of Oz. Erivo then came onstage to perform Diana Ross’ “Home” from The Wiz.

The 97th annual Oscars ceremony is almost here.

The 2025 Academy Awards are taking place tonight, Sunday, March 2, at 7pm E.T. — yes, earlier than usual — at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Conan O’Brien will make his Oscar hosting debut with the ceremony.

2025 is a monumental moment in the almost century-old awards show: It’s the first time in history that the Oscars will be streaming live. This year’s show will be available on Hulu starting at 7 p.m. Et/4 p.m. Pt, in conjunction with ABC channels airing the broadcast. There will also be a livestream on the Academy social pages, as well as streaming via Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, AT&T TV, and FuboTV.

The ceremony is confirmed to include a highly-anticipated performance by Oscar-nominated “Wicked” stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. While it’s been rumored that the duet will open the show, Grande stayed mum when speaking with IndieWire.

The 97th Academy Awards takes place on Sunday March 2 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

The ceremony starts at 4pm Pt/7pm Et (midnight UK time) and is set to run for around three hours (although it usually overruns).

It will be broadcast live on ABC in the US and streamed on Hulu. In the UK it will once again air on ITV1, with coverage fronted by Jonathan Ross.

Conan O’Brien is hosting the ceremony for the first time, with Raj Kapoor returningas executive producer and showrunner, and Katy Mullan serving as executive producer.
