Doja Cat delivered a daring James Bond-themed performance at the Oscars alongside Raye and Blackpink’s Lisa, tackling Shirley Bassey’s "Diamonds Are Forever." While nerves got the best of her, she took to Instagram to reflect: "I never get to sing like that... what I did was brave and scary." She praised her fellow performers and even shared a fun moment dancing with Sarah Paulson.

Kim Kardashian’s Minimalist Yet Controversial Look
At 44, The Kardashians star embraced a minimalist approach, opting for a slicked-back bun, natural makeup, and no accessories, almost as if she had wrapped herself in a bed sheet and walked out the door. The gown itself was crafted from Tyvek, a high-density polyethylene material commonly used in house wrap, protective equipment, and medical packaging.

How Many People Watched Oscars 2025? (Photo Credit – ABC/Facebook)
The Academy Awards remain a cornerstone of Hollywood’s cultural calendar, celebrating cinematic excellence of the year. Historically, the Oscars have drawn massive audiences, reaching 55 million viewers in 1998. However, recent years have seen wild fluctuations, plummeting to 10.4 million in 2021 amid the pandemic before rebounding to 19.5 million in 2024. Continue scrolling to learn about the statistics of Oscars 2025.
Factors like host appeal, nominee buzz, and streaming integration have fueled this rollercoaster. The 97th Academy Awards drew 18.1 million viewers on ABC, marking a 7% decline from last year’s numbers. This year’s broadcast featured first-time host Conan O’Brien, a well-received performance lineup, and a slate of films that resonated with critics. However, these elements weren’t enough to sustain the Oscars’ post-pandemic viewership recovery.

First and foremost known as a rapper, Doja Cat — along with “Born Again” collaborators Lisa and Raye — took to the Oscars stage last night to perform a medley of songs from the James Bond franchise, in a sizable tribute to 007. Now, she’s addressing some of the online criticism regarding her performance.
In an Instagram post showing off her Balmain looks for the night, the Scarlet musician admitted she was nervous, but that she stood by her “brave” rendition: “I never get to sing like that and what I did was brave and scary as f— for me,” she said in part. “I know a lot of people didn’t like it but a lot of people did and I feel good that I pushed myself. The song is a classic and I put a lot of work into it but the nerves got to me and a bitch hit some flats.

Doja Cat, whose discography includes farm-animal jingle “Mooo!” and the Dionne Warwick-sampled “Paint the Town Red,” made a big impression at the 97th Oscars. Doja performed a rendition of the James Bond anthem “Diamonds Are Forever,” dressed in a gown embellished with crystals. In a social media post Monday, the pop singer expressed her gratitude to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and acknowledged her performance hiccups.

The 2025 Oscar telecast had a high bar to clear after last year’s show, which featured an all-time great Oscar moment with Ryan Gosling belting out “I’m Just Ken” from Barbie, which not only blew the roof off the Dolby Theater but also broke Emma Stone’s dress.
This year’s event, while never reaching those same heights, wasted no time giving audiences the same level of star power. Wicked nominees Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo opened the show with a gorgeous medley of inspiring numbers: Grande singing “Over the Rainbow” decked in gorgeous ruby slipper red, and Erivo an excerpt of “Home,” originally made famous by Diana Ross in the film version of The Wiz. The pairing closed out their performance with the inescapable “Defying Gravity,” which as expected brought the crowd to its feet.

One of the current awards season traditions running is that any studio that books the Soho House West Hollywood for their Oscars afterparty is confident that their nominee will win Best Picture. Coming out of the pandemic, that has been true for A24 with “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” then with Universal Pictures with “Oppenheimer,” and now with Neon and newly-minted Academy Award winner “Anora.”
That said, it was not the most smooth road to a near Oscars sweep for Sean Baker’s Palme d’Or winner. However great a weekend it was when “Anora” won at the Critics Choice Awards, PGA Awards, and DGA Awards, it was followed by two weekends in a row — first at the BAFTA Awards, then at the SAG Awards — where “Conclave” won the equivalent of Best Picture. “Anora” had gained some major wins at the Film Independent Spirit Awards, including Best Lead Performance for star Mikey Madison,...

Oscars night has continued the Grammys naked trend.
Last month for music’s biggest night, every iteration of bras, panties, corsets and more made an appearance at the 2025 Grammy Awards for an awards show that The Hollywood Reporter‘s style writer Laurie Brookins wrote could have been dubbed “the underwear Grammys.” (Kanye West’s wife, Bianca Censori, memorably skipped the underwear altogether on the red carpet.)
Now, for the 2025 Oscars, a handful of stars continued to drive that style trend after the red carpet for Hollywood biggest night, leaning into the naked vibe at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, which has become somewhat of a tradition.
Julia Fox arrived to the annual star-studded afterparty Sunday in Los Angeles in a fully sheer Dilara Findikoglu dress that exposed her breasts. The Uncut Gems star wasn’t entirely nude under her see-through, and she was also covered up by extra-long hair extensions...

It seems that nudity is the hot fashion trend of 2025. At least among people who have had the misfortune of dating Kanye West.
First, Bianca Censori rocked a see-through dress at the Grammys.
Now, Julia Fox has followed (birthday) suit by sporting a transparent gown at Sunday night’s Vanity Fair Oscars party.

This was truly the brutalest Oscars, which is not a spelling error. Let’s put it this way: Earlier on Sunday, Harry Styles ran the Tokyo marathon and took less time than this Oscar ceremony did. But to look on the bright side of the 97th Academy Awards, Adrien Brody made only one speech. Conan O’Brien did great. No mimes. No Best Original Song dance snoozers. There was only one reference to “the magic of storytelling.” Cynthia Erivo sang with Ariana Grande. Timothée’s yellow suit. An indie film won.

In his opening monologue for the 2025 Oscars, host Conan O’Brien made a pronouncement about how any acceptance speech that went on too long would be subject to John Lithgow’s “disappointed” face.
Some 3.5 hours later — well after Conan did a musical number about his promise not to waste time, after a half-dozen winners made speeches that the orchestra cut off almost before they began — Adrien Brody took the stage for his second best actor win, announcing that the theme of his speech would be everything he learned in the 20 years since his first win for The Pianist. He proceeded to babble without interruption or apparent purpose for several minutes, finally started to get played off, instructed the orchestra that he wasn’t leaving, and rambled for several more minutes — and The Director Of The Telecast Never Once Cut To John Lithgow Being Disappointed. Maybe the director forgot. Maybe John Lithgow forgot.

The stars at the Oscars 2025 opted for maximum drama with their couture looks, their stylists having planned the best looks for last.
Trends quickly emerged on the red carpet at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood, from pastel hues, such as the Dior gowns worn by Mikey Madison and Monica Barbaro, to high-drama sculptural gowns, notably the pink satin and tulle gown designed for Ariana Grande by Schiaparelli creative director Daniel Roseberry. At the other end of the spectrum, black gowns also ruled, including the black silk crepe Louis Vuitton gown worn by Ana de Armas, and Miley Cyrus’ custom high-neck McQueen gown. Squarely in the middle of that color palette, who made bold statements with red? Colman Domingo’s vivid Valentino suit stood out, as did Gal Gadot’s lush satin ballgown with side pleated, designed by Prada.

The 97th Academy Awards was a joyous affair, full of big orchestral numbers, celebrity singalongs and a triumphant hosting debut from Conan O’Brien. While “Anora” led the night with five wins, there were several snubs and surprises. Check out our list of the biggest unexpected moments below.
Surprise: Mikey Madison wins over award season darling Demi Moore
Demi Moore’s brave performance in “The Substance” seemed like it was a shoo-in for the best actress statue, given her redemption arc throughout award season and wins at the Globes, SAGs and Critics Choice Awards. Yet Madison’s performance helped “Anora” — which was awarded best picture immediately after her win — lead the night.
Snub: Original Song performances nixed
Some of the most memorable Oscar moments of all time have been the best original song performances, from Diana Ross and Lionel Richie’s 1982 rendition of “Endless Love” to last year’s “I’m Just Ken” spectacular.

You can't separate music from the movies, especially in an Oscar year like this one with two musicals nominated for Best Picture (Wicked and Emilia Pérez). As usual, the Motion Picture Academy incorporated music into Sunday's Oscars telecast, though not always in the usual way.
Wicked stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, both Oscar nominees for their roles, performed the opening number. Grande started things off, appropriately enough, with "Over the Rainbow" from The Wizard of Oz. Erivo followed that with a rendition of "Home." Fans might have revolted had they not dueted during their time on stage together, so they closed the medley with "Defying Gravity"; Grande even stepped aside to let Erivo belt those final notes in the spotlight. They received a standing ovation.
Other artists included on Sunday night were K-pop star Lisa from Blackpink, Grammy winner Doja Cat, and Grammy nominee Raye, who contributed to a...

Actress Margaret Qualley took a break from supporting The Substance at the Oscars and appeared on stage during the James Bond tribute. The confusing segment had general audiences with question marks on their faces as many found it odd and out-of-context at the awards ceremony. Qualley appeared as a Bond girl in the segment.
While The Substance star’s appearance may or may not indicate a future role in the franchise’s upcoming reboot, but the studio really missed a golden opportunity to announce its next Agent 007. Ever since Daniel Craig retired after No Time To Die, the franchise is in limbo with actors like Henry Cavill and Aaron Taylor-Johnson being top contenders.

The 97th annual Oscars paid tribute to the classic James Bond with a dance — led by “The Substance” star Margaret Qualley.
Qualley danced alongside a handful of male dancers in tuxes while she donned a red gown, but why was she on stage during the tribute?
While Qualley might be known for her performances in “The Substance” alongside Demi Moore, as well as “Maid,” “Kinds of Kindness,” “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood” and “Poor Things,” she was a trained dance before pivoting into the world of acting.
Qualley, who is the daughter of Andie MacDowell and Paul J. Qualley, grew up dancing, and eventually studied dance at the North Carolina School of the Arts, where she trained as a ballet dancer. She also was an apprentice at the American Ballet Theatre while she attended the New York’s Professional Children’s School.

“We are so grateful,” said Camille, letting out a great “whoo hoo” as she and Clément Ducol accepted the Oscar for Best Original Song for El Mal in Emilia Pérez. “We wrote El Mal as a song to denounce corruption and we hope it speaks to the role that music and art can play and continue to play as a force of the good and progress in the world.”
The pair wrote the music and, in a rare occurrence, shared the lyric credit with Jacques Audiard, director of the much-nominated Netflix musical crime drama

It's been 22 years since the infamous moment when Adrien Brody won Best Actor at the 2003 Oscars for The Pianist and unexpectedly smooched his presenter, Halle Berry, on the stage. Well, Berry decided to get a little revenge on Brody at the 2025 Oscars. Ready or not, here she comes! Watch the video below.
The Best Actress winner for Monster's Ball spotted Brody on Sunday's red carpet and planted a big, juicy kiss on his lips while he was being interviewed. As she explained to Variety, she felt the urge to reciprocate the lip-lock because "that was one hell of a night for him, and for me as well." Berry added, "To be a part of his moment ... tonight I had to pay him back."

The 2025 Oscars were shaken (not stirred) by the most famous spy in the world.
Sunday’s 97th annual Academy Awards ceremony featured a tribute to James Bond and the franchise’s long-running history of legendary and Oscar-nominated and -winning theme songs, including winner “Skyfall” (which was performed and cowritten by Adele)
The Bond franchise has received six Oscar nominations for its many indelible songs, including “Live and Let Die” from 1973’s Live and Let Die (performed by Wings and cowritten by Paul and Linda McCartney), “Nobody Does It Better” from 1977’s The Spy Who Loved Me (performed and written by Carly Simon), and “For Your Eyes Only” from 1981’s For Your Eyes Only (performed by Sheena Easton and written by Bill Conti and Mick Leeson). Famous tracks performed by Shirley Bassey (“Goldfinger”), Nancy Sinatra (“You Only Live Twice”), and Duran Duran (“A View to a Kill”) were snubbed by the Academy.

Oscar viewers were caught off guard by the James Bond musical tribute featuring Blackpink’s Lisa, Doja Cat, and Raye during the 2025 ceremony. After a dance number featuring Margaret Qualley, Blackpink’s Lisa (known as Lalisa Manobal to The White Lotus viewers) graced the stage to sing a rendition of “Live and Let Die” from the 1973 film. She was followed by Doja Cat, who sang “Diamonds Are Forever” from the 1971 film of the same name. Raye performed Adele‘s “Skyfall,” the theme from the 2012 film. The trio recently released the song “Born Again” together. Following the performance, viewers were puzzled by the decision to have the trio sing Bond songs. I’m confused by this James Bond tribute. This year’s show will be available on Hulu starting at 7 p.m. Et/4 p.m. Pt, in conjunction with ABC channels airing the broadcast. There will also be a livestream on the Academy social pages, as well as streaming via Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, AT&T TV, and FuboTV.
The ceremony is confirmed to include a highly-anticipated performance by Oscar-nominated “Wicked” stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. While it’s been rumored that the duet will open the show, Grande stayed mum when speaking with IndieWire.

H.E.R. is weighing in on Oscar producers’ decision not to include performances of this year’s best original song nominees during Sunday’s Academy Awards ceremony.
The singer-songwriter would have performed Diane Warren’s “Journey” from the “The Six Triple Eight” soundtrack if the traditional performances took place.
“It’s kind of weird, but I’m just happy to be there,” H.E.R., who won the original song Oscar in 2021 for “Fight for You” from “Judas and the Black Messiah,” told me Saturday night at the Chanel and Charles Finch pre-Oscars dinner at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hill Hotel, “Performing or not, the song’s gonna live on, whether we perform it on the Oscar stage or not, I was a little bummed because I look forward to those performances, not just being in it, you know, but it’s totally fine. It’s still gonna be a great show,...
